Well Asian people in general are obsessed with double eyelids   You can't be called beautiful without them, no matter how refined your other features are

Well, the thing with Liu Wen is that most of the Chinese public don't find her pretty, Liu Wen herself has said it in interviews as well. What most of the Chinese public like about her is that she has meili or charisma

I'm amazed at how many people think Liu Wen is ugly. She doesn't fit the beauty standards, mainly due to lack of plastic surgery I assume. But that doesn't mean she's ugly. In fact, she's a more somewhat realistic representation for Chinese beauty. I was actually mostly surprised to see Zhang Ziyi on the list. She's also very pretty imo but doesn't fit the beauty standard either, and is mostly praised for her roles rather than looks. I figured she too, like Liu Wen, was considered beautiful mostly by Western audiences rather than in their homeland or East-Asia.

 

I'm also surprised Li Bingbing wasn't on the list - she's one of the first people I think of when it comes to Chinese beauty.

The list is by korea so it shows that these actresses have the most exposure there. But in China, the list is different so they are surprised. To me, Liu wen isnt necessarily beautiful and Im not talking about chinese or korean beauty standards. Its just my personal opinion and I find her not pretty. But she does seem cuter when she smiles and she looks pretty chic too. I find it funny that if someone doesn't have plastic surgery, its an argument for them to be seen as pretty. Thats only a plus if she is really pretty naturally. In china, they just might not think she is pretty enough to be considered in the list. While Korea doesnt know all chinese actresses and Liu Wen is quite a global celebrity and even paired up with Choi siwon in WGM so they added her.

Liu Wen is a Western beauty standards model, so if a typical Chinese person looks at only some photo of her, they're not going to be impressed. But if they take the time to see Liu Wen in action and get to know her, she's so likeable and her beauty is very unique.
