On August 17, Super Junior's Kangin attended the first trial for his DUI accident from May.

During the trial, Kangin's legal representative claimed, "Kangin has admitted to driving under the influence and is currently reflecting on his actions. However, the officially announced blood alcohol level is high compared to the amount of alcohol he actually consumed." He continued, "Please consider that there were no other damages done other than to the streetlight. Also, it is true that he was involved in similar cases before, but that was 7 years ago. He may be at fault, but also received harsh criticism as the case was reported excessively all over the media. It is most likely that he will not be able to continue promoting."

Kangin stated at the end of the trial, "I should've been more cautious as a celebrity and I am reflecting on my actions. I will not create such a situation again."

A fine of 7,000,000 KRW (approximately $6,050 USD) has been issued against Kangin. The final ruling will be announced on September 7.

He probably said that last time.

I really, really want to believe his words, that he won't do it again ... but once bitten, twice shy.

I was just thinking today about how much I miss him as a SuJu member. It would have been good to see him at the Super Camps, but it's best if he stays away from Super Junior and public life ... at least for the time being. :._.:

Whatever, it's nice hearing news about him again. I know he's wrong, but I miss him. I don't wanna Suju loss another member but I can't see people forgive him in future... :(

Tbh, he didn't learn from his first mess, and that is the scary thing.

The streetlight could have been a person, it's not about being more cautious as a celebrity but as a human being.

Sure, your case got more media attention because you live in the spotlight, but you as a person made that bad call...twice.

"But that was 7 years ago" AKA: Even 7 years later, he still drives drunk. It may have been a pole, but what if it wasn't? It could have been anything -- anyone -- there.

He might not ever be able to promote again but that is a small price to pay if he never does this again. Right is right and wrong is wrong.  This was his weak point, but he contributed a lot to the group, and I will miss him.

Everyone's definition of 'scandal' is different, but Kangin has had two DUIs, one bar fight and evasion of reserve training. I guess you could call those his "biggest" scandals.

True, I was more referring to his DUIs and the army stuff. But y'all are right haha, I should've been more specific

I'd rather that they take away his license. It'll force him to use a taxi, because I don't think at his young age that he'll stop going out with friends to have a late night drink, which he shouldn't.
