Yeah, that analysis was made by onehallyu posters who are interested in vocals and I'd say it is partly accurate. I was working with a few of 'em on altering/updating it but we lost track along the way. Either way, I would take most of it with a grain of salt and just enjoy his voice for the way it sounds to your own ears.

It's like pre-2012 when all of the special stages he's part of were singing based performances. This is the reality I wanted. 

 

He killed it; both performances. Waiting for HD fancams but even just based on those videos it seems his vocals are in shape I can't wait to hear him flaunt it during repackage promos. I'd like to believe they wouldn't dare lipsync songs like TIL and Evanesce on music shows.

I've been kinda preoccupied with other crap but I've been trying to keep tabs on Suju stuff too (I mean it's comeback time after all) and I'm just confused as hell. I feel like I'm missing something major. I know Sungmin was outed about the marriage and some fans took it hard but then I turn around it's like k-elf are petitioning to have him removed from the group and are trying to sabotage the comeback in order to punish him or something?

 

I know this isn't isn't the thread for this conversation but I'm just baffled and I had to write it down somewhere. I've been on the fence about this comeback since I heard the title track was This Is Love which admittedly wasn't a favourite of mine. But now that it's upon us I do want the whole nine yards that is supposed to go with a Korean comeback. Round one with Mamacita was already a bit truncated what with the new Super Show and a severe lack of variety appearances. I was hoping the repackage would be redeeming on that front. But now the whole thing has this depressing shadow cast over it. So yeah, we'll see. But I am a bit bummed.

 

Also, I do remember us discussing the prospect of Kyuhyun dating openly on this thread and how nice it would be and shit. Yeah, not bloody likely unless the press decides to expose it on their own. I want to say I hope he's dating smart and keeping it un-reproachable but that would be victim-blaming, wouldn't it? If he is in love he should be allowed to scream it from the rooftops if he wants to.

 

Ok, enough unfocused rambling. If someone is bothered by the ot just let me know and I'll spoiler it.

I was thinking about this the other day and how we were being so optimistic because ELFdom no longer consists of teenagers, they have grown up and should be able to deal with such news in a healthy manner.........LOL no.

Whoa, there's a lot there I didn't even know about.

 

If we're talking about non-active ones there was one called LoverSoul. They had some really nice stuff, like Secret & HoneyMallow level quality fancams, etc. It was weird seeing it go from such high activity and an obviously intimate knowledge of his schedule to nothing just like that. From what I gather I think they found a new idol then.

 

But I don't blame fansites for shutting down or moving on. It's a pretty demanding and expensive hobby to have if your heart is not really in it.

 

Also for the OTP section I think I read somewhere that Cho-iBelief had some internal strife and a couple of them moved on to found WKunion (I think?) so I think Cho-iBelief is defunct as well.

Oh yes Loversoul. She had some pretty great shots, but then young blood snatched her lol.

Dunno if you saw but on the main forum there was a translation of a Starcast article about K-ELF. I was kinda skimming through it on my mobile so I might have missed something important but tbh it did nothing to alleviate my feeling detachment from the fandom. Like, I know I'm not a proper ELF with the proper ELF opinions and ELF behaviour but still, within the kpop context they are my point of reference, "my people".

 

But reading that thing, I'm just like do we even stan the same group? I saw that the fans interviewed were old-timers so that might explain some of it. They obviously had a stronger attachment to the older members i.e. those active in promotions from the very beginning and perhaps that should be understood as the main reason why such emphasis was put on the variety aspect of the group. The fourth fan of 4 years from what I saw actually did mention their music as a reason for her fanhood.

 

But yeah, it put me in a sour mood. Reading the article it would seem like the pinnacle of SJ's careers was dressing up as movie characters on an airport. I apologise for my language but who the fuck cares about that? Well, k-fans do. Apparently.

 

Those kinds of things make me feel frustrated. The fact that SJ are seen as a comedy troupe rather than singers in Korea isn't actually brand new information to me. But to see the fans actively push that stereotype and neglect to mention anything about the quality of singing, not even when talking about the vocally-focused members was... disappointing. 

 

I was reading the thing earlier and these were my exact sentiments. Disappointing piece if you ask me. Such a waste.

Maybe part of it is because of that piece too (and OT, but how ironic is that timing?), but I was looking at that megalist of Kyu fansites and wondered how many of them are ELF too and how many are just Kyustans (if any).

 

If everything that just happened happened with Kyuhyun, I would honestly be more quite a bit more upset about Secret closing than his dating itself. Secret... I mean, I know he has other pretty big/-name sites like Honeymallow and 2Kyuhyun and so on, but Secret is like the Kyusite in my mind, idk why.

 

Also is Kyu's Century the same as the baidu one listed? Their watermark here says 'Kyuhyun's China baidu bar', but the one in the megalist says 'cho kyuhyun bar' instead...but the link for gyuhyunbar (I think), where these photos supposedly came from, redirects to 880203 which is Secret. #___#

A few things... He's tweeted 2 snippets, both of which were obviously ballads, which is fine and I love how they sound. I do however want some variation, as in not just mellow, slow ballads. I'm gonna be disappointed if the mini doesn't include a power ballad a la Inoo. I mean the 2nd teaser was obviously the song intro so it could go anywhere from there but y'know... Then there is the featuring, expected obviously, but he had better act in the MV himself!

 

Everything is so perfect otherwise and I'm so freaking excitedddd!! I've been sleeping so very little these past days and I'm having my midterms the coming week, but it's ok because KYU SOLO TIME!!!

Guyssss it finally happened!!!     

 

We've been speculating and anticipating his solo debut since like page 13 and now it finally happened. I love the songs. The title track is simply flawless. It is my favorite along with At Close because At Close...that song had me bawling, like literally. My other faves are Eternal Sunshine (bc Kyu harmonizing with Kyu T____T ), Moment of Farewell and also MTMM, which he seems to have changed up a little. My mind might still change but these are my faves for now.

 

His tweet was so cute and then there's the members being so supportive. I literally cried at some of their tweets, like Kangin's "our baby of the team who went through alot" Ryeowook's "pride of Super Junior" and Eunhyuk monitoring the charts while on vacation in Europe. 

 

Baby deserves all the loving, he really does. There's more cheesiness, but I'm just gonna quote Natti because I feel she did a good job at that:

 

Who knew that the nervous post I wrote this morning would become so unnecessary in the end. I was worried, so very worried but seeing how well it is being received has really relieved me. All I wanted was a good album. I didn't even dare to hope for such nice digitals. To say that I am shocked would be an understatement. To say that I am just happy would be an understatement too. Speaking of joy, I still can't believe Kyuhyun has finally achieved his dreams. Getting here has been very long both for him and for us as fans too. All those ups and downs of the rumors, the long discussions of  "IF he had an album what would it be like?", "what songs do we want on it?", "what kind of image would he have?", "what do you think about rock Kyu? would rock Kyu work?    " and just the longing for all of this in general, it really has been a long road here. So congrats, you've all made it and as far as I know no one had a nervous breakdown while getting here. This congratulation goes to everyone, regardless of whether you've been here since the beginning, joined in the middle, recently joined or are a lurker. 

 

Ah, I feel like I'm starting to get a bit sappy now. I blame it on his mini....oh wait... this is just his mini. We still have so much more ahead of us. Now that this one wish has been completed, I guess the thread's next goal would be wishing for a full album now right? Ahhhhhh I'm gonna stop myself before these sappy sentiments I'm feeling stops me from thinking straight

I think most Kyu stans understand perfectly that pull he has on you when you once know about him. It's definitely more than just likability. It's that too but... it's so nice to watch him do pretty much anything at all. Whether it's singing or talking or just zoning out. It's compelling somehow. He's compelling.
