My fav Kyu solo is also the Japanese version of Infection and it kills me that we don't have a studio version. Literally every few months I am compelled to tweet Kyu to complain to him about this lmao. Damn you Kyu!!!!!

 

 

And to add to that, I have to say this performance is also one of my favourites. I think he emotes well here; I can feel it in his voice. First Impressions with Wook on piano.

I don't know where I fall on this remake album....I'd rather it be new songs but remakes are better than nothing I guess. I want them to challenge themselves. I hope Kyu doesn't just do mellow ballads. From his Immortal Song 2 performances, I know he is capable of doing more and even the Sorry Sorry Answer, he can do more jazzy tunes too. I even like his raps on Reminiscence. This is why every time I see him doing something outside his mould, it pleases me.

First Impression!   Actually, I love all of his solos, minus Isn't she lovely.

 

I think his voice really suits sexy R&B. He just has that timbre that makes all the panties drop.

I was curious so I read it, not because I thought it might be real, but just to see what the description of the Kyumin moment. Anyway, so I am reading, reading and then I see this:

^^ I just hate the song. Not even his velvet voice could make me like it. The best part about the performance is probably the way he handles the harmonica. Finger porn and he fcking licks it ahgdabyubfadkj.

haha yeah, i too had a suspicion the harmonica bits may have been prerecorded. it's just too flawless!!! but either way, i'm fine with that even if it's prerecorded, since we all know kyu CAN play the harmonica and can look so gosh darn cute doing it. (still hope it was live tho~)

Looks like he's sporting a hickey in some of the pics. 

 

I have yes. It's mind-blowing tbh. I think people tend to get too fixated on adlibs and other flashy stuff, and often unfairly disregard or even discredit his efforts in Super Junior's performances. He really does carry the songs a long way along. Not only his own lines and the chorus but oftentimes doubling for some of the weaker singers in the group and singing backup for them, like for Eunhyuk here.

 

And why not? It sounds nice, sounds live. But it really is a thankless job. I remember watching an old youtube clip of them performing It's You on TV somewhere and in the comments someone was praising Han Geng's singing and wondering about his deep voice. Meanwhile in the back row Kyuhyun is actually doing the all the work 

 

But it's not a major issue. Kyuhyun can do it, he obviously has the stamina... It's just something I have noticed for a while now and that clip brought it to my mind again.

 

It's kind of frustrating tbh. Oftentimes I'd read stuff along the lines of: "I like Kyuhyun's voice best, but I admit that Yesung is the better singer" and I'm like, why? And then I realise that, ofcourse, the one who belts the most is obviously the better singer.

People are obviously free to prefer whoever they will. I just like credit given where credit's due. Kyuhyun has proven himself quite capable of belting when the occasion calls for it (see IS2). It's not like he doesn't have the chops for it. But evidently for Suju's songs his lung capacity tends to be needed elsewhere, i.e. singing the whole damn song through.

 

 

As for the fashion... It's a pity that his MCing career doesn't call for a sexier wardrobe. I mean I get that it's an image thing but still. Grandpa sweaters and bow ties can only take you so far.

 

I never really looked at it that way actually. I assumed the reason SM wouldn't give him more challenging parts and less filler lines is because they don't think he could handle them, or at least not as well as Yesung does. But that makes sense. To carry a song like he did in the video I posted requires a lot more effort than it does to sing an adlib or two at the end of the song.

 

Don't forget the striped shirts (though I kinda like those). But yeah, it is a pity. His MCing carreer is probably also the reason he won't get rid of his current haircut orz.

Gonna stop yapping on in a sec but I just have add this. The adlibs... They're not really that challenging either. Or shouldn't be for their caliber of singers anyway. They're just sustained notes really.

 

I remember when Ryeowook first took over Yesung's adlibs for It's You in SS5 he would just casually belt the notes while dancing the choreo with the rest of them as opposed to Yesung who always had made a really big deal of it by falling on his knees and clutching his chest, etc. I guess someone let Ryeowook know that his nonchalance was impressing no one. Nowadays he's at least is doing some poses and dramatic hand gestures for good effort... It's just kinda funny I think.

 

But he does sound really good though. The recent FujiTV broadcast is <3 Ngl, I would love to hear Kyuhyun doing the adlibs for It's You if only once but alas... he's singing the chorus. As usual.

 

Ah, I guess "impressive" is the word I was searching for. They might not be that challenging but it's usually those parts that are considered the highlights in songs.

I can't believe I'm actually watching, and enjoying, the Starcraft video lol.

 

Sometimes I wonder if he's not given those parts so that he doesn't stand out too much.  I still remember the travesty that is Trap with Taemin + Kyuhyun where they seriously muted down the volume of his voice and also did some funky-ass filtering so he didn't sound like himself at all, and I remember all those people who said he was superfluous in it ;/  Maybe I'm just biased but don't put an amazing singer as a backup feature if you're just going to butcher his voice, SM!

 

Also ... I cringe every time I hear his voice being autotuned in any of the SJ & SJM songs, SO unnecessary  -_-

I hear you. He was 10 out of 10 even back then when he rarely got the opportunity to do variety.

 

Kyuhyun's always been really good with impromptu singing whether it be on TV or during fanmeets. It was one of the things that made me take notice. It requires a certain skill level and confidence to do that which imho sets him apart from his peers. His passion and depth of knowledge when it comes to songs and music styles in Korea and abroad goes way beyond the need to know basis kpop idols usually operate on.

 

So in celebration, here are three occasions of Kyuhyun singing on radio that are especially dear to me (I'm seriously bummed that he hasn't appeared on radio since idek when... I really thought that after Ryeowook took over Sukira he would be there every other week. Guess not.)

One of my all time favourite Suju songs. In this particular clip I especially love the unabashed, unrelenting way Kyu + Wook sing the chorus with like all their being. It's just always been very appealing to me...

Probably my all time fave Kyu radio appearance and fave Kyu duet. They sound so good together and for once Kyuhyun's voice isn't drowning out his partner's. This really was the very definition of an impromptu, unrehearsed little performance. I'd love them to duet again some day.

 

Those are the clips I always find myself going back to. Why I Like You is my all time favorite SJ song too omg are you me? >.< Magic happens when KRY get an equal amount of adlibs and that Reset video shows that really well.

 

The last time he sang on a radio broadcast was during Spy promotions, which is waaaaay too long ago.

I don't really read much into what Gura said. It's about in line with what Radio Star is about, although I don't see Kyu's answer as a direct response. I think the "implies that you have to leave" part, I took that as about Mamma Mia not Radio Star.

Honestly,

 

I think Kyu dances choreographed dances fairly well. So I often don't know what people are talking about when they complain or make fun of him in that way. He might freestyle like a nerd who's never seen the dance floor in his life, but choreographed ones, he does them fine. Except when he has to do body rolls. LOL

 

 

 

 

 

I remember mentioning that he's the only one who got the footwork on point and people thought I was trying to say that he's the better dancer lol. He's not. But he's very precise and rarely does he slack, despite dancing not being his forte.

I feel like "jack of all trades" has a negative connotation to it, so if you ask me, I'd say it's Donghae or Sungmin as well. They are good at more than one thing, but don't necessarily excel at any of those.

 

Kyuhyun would be the most talented and/or most well rounded member (imo). He excels at singing, but can do many other things as well. He plays several instruments, can dance better than most main vocals, etc.

I doubt anyone actually considers him fat, so I'm usually not bothered by it. I do get annoyed however when I see certain people joking about it all the time, like some of the people I follow on twitter like to do.
