Balancing school and work?

My 2nd semester doesn't start until 1/14 but im already agonizing how im going to manage work and school.

I rocked my 1st semester and got the approval to take 26 credits

i know its a lot, half of the credit are online (eng, phil, and few others) my hard courses (chem, mat etc) are on campus.

but i work a minimum of 40 hours + overtime on the 3rd shift

the overtime varies because its dictated by the flux in travel - i work in the leisure/travel industry

this past semester, literally i had next to no social life.

lol if i wasn't doing homework, i was sleeping. if i wasnt as sleeping, i was at work doing both lol

anybody have any tips or suggestions?

try to do your homework at work, and give a day to yourself, if not that then a couple of hours atleast...

i wish you luck for it is gonna be a tough ride to handle all of that.

and yea you know you gonna half to compromise your social life, so get it all out now before you go^^

and remember this is only for a semester and after that you got the whole summer^^ (unless you take summer courses)

Well, first of all, put any ideas of having a social life (at least one where you're meeting and talking often) out of your mind because it won't be happening this semester. I think it would be good to take less credits if you're working full time, but if you insist... manage your time well. Make schedules in advance of how you're going to spend your time to make sure you have enough time to get proper rest and food. Burn out is gonna be likely with that kind of workload, so take a day off for yourself every so often. Hang with friends that day, or go out and do something for fun. Other than that, there's not much.

Good luck with everything. That's insane, man.

That's a shit ton for one person. It worries me, but props to you if that's your chosen lifestyle. One thing I tried/try to do is make sure to request off every so often to help me catch up on schoolwork or in most cases, just to relax and have a day off. You don't want to work away your youth, you know? Plus it'll help you from overloading yourself.

its some thing what I feel is the mismanagement of work. Basically I feel the usage of tools in this regard is the best option to get rid of the mismanagement. Practically I am using the task management software and apps that does a pretty better work balancing and management of work force getting things done up in a better and perfect manner. i think you should also try out the same. Check it out here - http://www.replicon.com/olp/task-management-software.aspx

  • 3 weeks later...

26?!??? And working 40+ hours??! That's just suicide for one semester.... are you sure you want to do that? If you want really good grades.... Then you want to take less classes and work less. You won't be getting excellent grades if you have to worry about so much other stuff... Unless you're naturally a genius or something.
