Does anyone know any good review books? I've already bought some from Barron's but most people say that they give too much useless information. karutamral 647 Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Lol, you should only buy barron if you want to be overprepared. I used Kaplan and I got an 800 on both chemistry and math 2. Some of Barron's stuff is excessively more difficult than the actual subject test's material. Edit: Actually 780 on chemistry, I just rechecked my score. I DO NOT recommend Barrons because they overwhelm you with too much useless info like all the crap in the plant section. I got a 780 in Bio M and an 800 in Bio E using mostly PR. If you read through Princeton Review multiple times, you should be good for around a 750 give or take. The Bio test has the most difficult curve out of the science SAT IIs because the questions tend to be factual and require memorization rather than any actual problem solving... Theoretically, if you meticulously study and memorize every single detail in the barrons book, you should be able to get an 800. Barrons is the most useful book for getting an 780-800 IF you put in a ton of work. Princeton Review on the other hand can help you obtain a 700-750 with way less effort. However the down side is, Princeton Review does not contain enough info to get an 800. All in all, Barrons is for people who want 800s and are willing to put in the time whereas Princeton Review is for those who want to be efficient and only want to break 700. It does have excess info, but if anything that really does prepare you for those random questions that could be the difference between a 790 and an 800. They told me that they can't check deleted messages without breaching member privacy so I basically can't prove anything T_T Either way your idea was freaking amazing I like had the biggest, dumbest grin on my face as soon as I saw that little "A+1" and the code. Such a great idea seriously I'm sorry it went down like that :( If we're ever in a group again we should screenshot that stuff for proof later on because that was too good of a plan to not use again . I'm more confident in doing biochemistry instead of ecology. Lol to be honest, I felt that some of the questions I encountered in the E section should have been in the M section and vise versa. I recommend that during the test, you should spend 2-3 minutes skimming through questions in both M and E sections and then choose the section depending on which one you feel more confident with. When I took the test, there were 3 questions I was unsure of in the M section, but only 1 for the E section, so I settled with E and got an 800. I think the most you can miss is 3 for an 800 and every additional question you miss is around a 10 point deduction in score. But based on numbers alone, 1% of test takers get 800s on Bio E while 3% get 800s on Bio M. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
