Wonsungideuri 448
I heard about "cupping" the other day, where Olympic athletes go through a therapy in which heated cups are applied to the skin in order to create suction, as a healing technique for muscles. It leaves purple circular bruises all over their skin. Would you do this if you were an Olympian? It looks kind of painful to me...

GodBot 1,005
I didn't know Olympians believe in this ancient form of medicine. Whether it works or not , the placebo effect would give them a boost of confidence. It doesn't really hurt , it's just like a hickey.
damn krystal 1,048
that's what those bruises are if i was an olympian then maybe?
Tayenne 4,552
In russia it's a common treatment aswell, not only for muscles but even to treat colds. It looks painful but it isn't actually that bad and it works.

MEEL 579
This is kinda common here in Malaysia. It does not hurt AT ALL though, don't let the marks fool you haha. As far as I know, it improves circulation and it does makes you feel refreshed, so why not!

I can't tell you how long the bruises last, I remember it being a few days, but it probably varies. As for the sensation, it was a bit uncomfortable at first. I felt a lot of pressure and heat as my skin was being sucked up which was weird to me, but some people really enjoy this part. For me, the cupping felt the best once I got used to it and once I was finally relaxed. When the glass cups were removed the world seemed like a much happier place lol People are also scared of acupuncture, but it's not bad

Thatoneuser 3,235
It's a common practice in Asia. Even though you look like a huge octopus tentacle just hit you the benefits are so worth the bruises and they fade after a few days to a few weeks at least for me.
