do we have to worry about how woollim manage their vocals ?

I just have to watch the performance of Kei on Girl Spirit ! and i'm so glad because she snatched me again !

i mean Lovelyz is my UB i love them but i don't understand why we don't found this kind of "kei" in their songs

they have 4 powerhouses vocals : Kei , Jin , BabySoul and Sujeong plus all of them can sing  ! we just have to see their covers or solo song for notice that !

But i'm a bit afraid about how woollim manage their "vocals" in their songs ! it's cute but they have the strenght to give us more !

I'm a Lovelinus and I'm proud of Lovelyz and their evolution comeback after comeback !

I'm really excited about their next cb ! They make a big step in the mature side so we will see how woollim manage them and their vocals

Fighting !!!!!!

I personally like lovelyz as they are. The style of their songs is what makes it "lovelyz" and it's what makes them distinct.

Not all songs require vocal acrobatics to be good. Besides, if people listened to more than just lovelyz title tracks, there are plenty instances where they show off their vocals on their albums tbh. The problem is that people think idols are only good singers if they hit super hard notes or sing powerfully but lovelyz are seriously stable, have beautiful tones and harmonize better than anyone. That in itself is a skill.

But I agree about the maturity part! I too think it's a step in the right direction. They are growing up and their music is evolving with them.

Preach !!! But when you have a group with a lots of vocals abilities and potential and you use just 50-60 % of this potential it's a little bit frustrating !

I think they're definitely holding back for now. Kei has so much to offer and so do the other 3. However I think that Kei should be the member in charge of high notes and Jin should be given more lines instead because while Jin is also pretty good, her live performances are less stable than Kei's

To me it seems as if they want to make it appear as if Lovelyz are evolving instead of showing their full potential at once, but I think they should just let them show their full potential

I'm sorry, I'm not a Lovelyz fan so I'm not familiar with their vocal abilities   With regards to Infinite, I'm quite content with how they divide the main vocals between Woohyun and Sunggyu. Recently, they also started giving more lines to L and Hoya, followed by Dongwoo and Sungjong, and finally Sungyeol. It evolved as they matured, and as the other members' voices grew stronger and more stable they also grow more confident to sing more lines. I thought it's better than forcing them to sing lines when they're clearly not ready.

isn't that more of the composers problem's than Woollim tho since they're the one writing the songs so they are one of the few people who knew the girls' vocal capabilities also i don't see any reason why belting powerful notes are required to showcase vocal capabilities there are also other things that can be used to showcase vocal abilities since powerful notes are riskier to do than other things

I do think this is a concern. It's been pretty obvious from the start that Woollim (or the producers as another user rightly pointed out, although I'm pretty sure Woollim would still have something to do with it as well) have been holding the girls back vocally, for whatever reason. The way I see it they want Lovelyz to stabilise themselves as a "cute" girl group and so they'd rather go for cutesy high-pitched vocals rather than more mature ones, which is a shame because some members really do not fit that tone at all (like Baby Soul, her voice is completely drowned out in most Lovelyz songs with a few exceptions like Joyland). This goes for the non-vocal members as well: Jisoo has such a nice deep speaking voice, I feel like she would sound a lot better if they'd just let her sing in her normal tone... I really do love Lovelyz's songs as they are but I just wish the members were allowed to showcase more of their vocals in them.

Also, I think it's been mentioned before in the vocal thread (in realtion to Infinite) that Woollim's vocal trainers are probably not very good. You can see this in Lovelyz as well–take Jin for example, she's a main vocal but she has a terrible breathing technique which makes her singing a lot more unstable than it should be. With how long she's been training I can't believe that no one has helped her fix that or taught her a better technique .__.

I agree that they're being held back vocally wise but I think it's not yet time to worry. With all these activities (Immortal Song, Girl Spirit, Talent for Sale, OST) that show their vocals, I think that Woollim have something good in store for us in their next comeback(s).  :raep:

where infinite is concerned, woollim does a good job of letting each member shine when they want to.

hoya and dongwoo both get singing parts fairly often to show off their vocals, and myungsoo gets more and more and better and better each time. we've gotten various genres outside of infinite's usual sound in each of the group's subgroups/solos.

but i wouldn't expect many large genre-changes as far as the group's sound as a whole. woollim doesn't tend to swap the group's concept out entirely each comeback from scratch, instead tending to stick to similar themes. again, that's what the subgroups and solos do, including solo/subgroup tracks included on regular full-group albums (woohyun's "time," sunggyu's "because," etc) -- in fact, lovelyz has already done this, haven't they? so i would expect that to continue and grow as lovelyz members gain confidence and notoriety.

Lovelyz is going to talent for sale?

On another note, as I'm rooting for soul more pre debut, I think she really doing so much better pre debut than of the current. I hope this can get fixed.

Not Lovelyz as a group. Only Baby Soul and JIN went and perform there.

I also like to hear Baby Soul again sing like how she sang No Better Than Strangers  :rlytearpls:
