The interest of the stock market is now focused on Big Hit Entertainment, the agency of Kpop living legends, BTS:

After yesterday's exciting debut of SK Biopharm on the stock market, the stock market has turned its attention to the next company, BigHit Entertainment, the agency of living Kpop legend BTS. Analysts have been scrambling to predict BigHit's market capitalization (aka value) even though BigHit's listing hasn't been scheduled. They estimate that BigHit is worth $2.5 billion to $4.2 billion. If it's closer to 2.5B, BH will be on par with companies like E-mart and Daelim Industrial. If it's closer to $4.2B, BigHit will worth more than LG U+, a telecoms company.

It may seem odd that a new entertainment company is shoulder to shoulder with companies that have hundreds of big stores nationwide and tens of thousands of employees, but the opinions of the financial market seems to think Kpop's competitiveness will fill the gap. However BigHit's valuation is unusual compared to the other major entertainment agencies SM, JYP and YG, which combined have a $1.67B market value. When determining corporate value, the most basic data used is sales and operating profits. BigHit's 2019 sales ($489M) are similar to SM's and its operating profit ($82.2M) is slightly higher than the combined operating profits of the Big3. If companies in the same industry have this difference in sales and operating profit, then the standard is that there should be a similar difference in corporate value.

However, analysts have now estimated BigHit's value to be at least 5 times and up to 8 times higher than SM's. The only way to interpret the reason for this unusually high assessment is the power of the BTS fans, the BTS ARMY who are spread all over the world. Though the Big3 have artists in overseas, they're usually based in Asia like China and Japan. It's not odd to say that BTS's stage is "the whole world." The financial sector has been praising BTS for being a global kpop group that's successful in the US, the biggest music industry in the world.

The stock market welcomes the new listings of healthy, large companies like SK Biopharm and BigHit. Not only does it raise interest in stocks, but the expectation ii's liquidity will increase from the trillions of Korean won that will flood the market.

So the stock market already has high expectations for BigHit. When will they go public, what's the IPO price, and though it's a hasty prediction, how much money will pour in, will the competition rate hit an all-time high, those are the questions. BigHit is undergoing a review. If the review goes smoothly, we'll see BTS (t/n: I think this is an error and they meant BigHit) will debut in September or October. Though music lovers may not like people in finance who want to convert art into money and numbers, this seems to be a chance to work with the public and to have money from the public to become an investment to fatten Kpop.
