KingofKpop 570 Posted August 6, 2016 Share Posted August 6, 2016 I just had to make a thread regarding the recent trend of saying that Gfriend are "Robbing Music Shows / Empty House" Not sure if people are trolling or being serious but anyway... For those who don't know "Robbing A Music Show / Empty House" is a phrase used when an artist wins a Music Show only because there is no decent competitors promoting at the same time. While Gfriend have been promoting Navillera there has been a ton of competition that people are ignoring. Wonder Girls, FT Island, Seventeen, Beast, NCT 127 and Sistar (Even though Sistar did comeback a while ago). All these groups are contenders to win Music Shows. But lets put that to the side... Since Navillera has been released it has had 472,311 downloads in less than 3 weeks. #LOL (their album) has sold over 33,411 copies. 10 Music Show wins. The same was said about Gfriend when they won 15 Music Show awards with Rough yet the song now holds over 1,565,270 downloads being the Most Downloaded Kpop Song Of This Year (2016) So Far. Me Gustas Tu holds over 1,877,078 downloads being the Most Downloaded Girl Group Song Of 2015. Glass Bead is now on over 957,785 and is looking to hit 1M within the coming months. With numbers like this are they not expected to win Music Shows? I realize that this thread might sound like bragging but sometimes you have to use facts and numbers to prove people wrong and show them the truth! MochaLatte 1,682 Posted August 6, 2016 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Well, people are saying GFriend is robbing an empty house because there aren't any extrmely trendy or groups at their peak coming back at the same time (Wonder Girls and B2ST have passed their peak, we can all admit that even tho they are still quite popular today), it's like saying if SNSD, EXO, BIGBANG, IU, or any other reallly extremely popular group came back at this time, would GFriend still be getting all this attention and trophies, if that's the case, I have a feeling that GFriend won't be, no offense to Buddies, but it's true, the true competitive summer comeback was last year when SNSD, Infinite, Apink, B2ST, BIGBANG, and a bunch of popular senior groups all came back at the around same time, that was tough as hell, whereas this summer, it seemed more like a period for the rookie/newer groups because not many sunbae groups had their comebacks (all coming back in August/Sept after GFriend's promotional period), so from this, I don't blame people for saying GFriend is robbing an empty house, especially since their only competition based on charts right now is Wonder Girls, but WG's fandom is a rollercoaster since debut, while GFriend has been consistently building a bigger fanbase (considering its a newer group too) :/ that's the truth, ask yourself would they be able to beat sunbae groups like SNSD, EXO, BIGBANG, etc. if they had comebacks at the same time. but of course GFriend is among the best of the rookies considering their rising popularity and they deserve a lot of respect, they remind me of Apink (rising from a small company rather than from the big 3 like YG, SM, & JYP) and its hard to start out big without all the financial and connections -> SM and JYP have a lot of that, so Buddies should just ignore what people are saying and be proud of what GFriend has accomplished from such a humble start because many nugu groups have not been able to do the same as GFriend and who knows? maybe GFriend will be able to reach the top like SNSD in the future, don't feed the hate, haters will just keep doing what they do best, just hope for the best Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What do you want them to do, waiting for their sunbaenim make a comeback even tho their are raring to go for theirs? there's so much money/people involve in this business, they cant just be like "oh top sunbae group make a comeback on this date, lets make a comeback during that time also". plus is an art of war kinda thing, look it up. I don't really care about this since the comeback timing is from the company so Gfriend had nothing to do with it.
