Republican Congressman endorses Clinton for President.

Recommended Posts

Representative Richard Hanna (New York) became the first sitting Republican congressman to endorse Hillary Clinton in an op-Ed in the Syracuse Post-Standard.

Writes Hanna:

“Secretary Clinton has issues that depending on where one stands can be viewed as great or small. But she stands and has stood for causes bigger than herself for a lifetime. That matters. Mrs. Clinton has promoted many of the issues I have been committed to over the years including expanding education and supporting women's health care.

"While I disagree with her on many issues, I will vote for Mrs. Clinton. I will be hopeful and resolute in my belief that being a good American who loves his country is far more important than parties or winning and losing. I trust she can lead. All Republicans may not like the direction, but they can live to win or lose another day with a real candidate. Our response to the public's anger and the need to rebuild requires complex solutions, experience, knowledge and balance. Not bumper sticker slogans that pander to our disappointment, fear and hate.â€

Hanna concludes:

"In his latest foray of insults, Mr. Trump has attacked the parents of a slain U.S. soldier. Where do we draw the line? For me, it is not enough to simply denounce his comments: He is unfit to serve our party and cannot lead this country.â€

Yes. Even Republicans don't really want this guy in office. That's why I'm saying he won't win.

Yeah, that's been clear that they weren't really on board, but this thing with the Khan's has really hit the fan. To the Republicans credit, I really haven't seen anyone even try to defend him. It's like the Judge Curiel incident times 50.

I have. Some people are now saying that Khan and his son are secret members of the Muslim Brotherhood because they went to Saudi Arabia once. Snopes even did an official debunking of it:

No one needs to get the warm fuzzies from Clinton to recognize she would make an acceptable President. I think she will make an excellent President, but I recognize that not everyone feels that way.

We have 3 months before this thing ends. Hilary is riding the DNC wave which will end soon. These 2 are hated by many, many people and honestly, I don't know what will happen.

But this isn't going to be a easy race for either one of these 2 and this guy flipping tables won't change that.

The fact that he's not running for re-election, meant that he is able to follow his conscience and speak out against Trump.

I wouldn't hold my breath in anticipation of other Republicans following his lead and publicly declaring that Trump is unfit to be president and so they're going to vote for Hillary. That would be akin to committing career suicide.

Still, kudos to him for putting country before party.
