The event will be divided into four zones, spread throughout the city of Rio de Janeiro: Barra, Deodoro, Copacabana and Maracana. The only events held outside of Rio de Janeiro will be some of the preliminar soccer matches that will be played in four other Brazilian cities: Salvador (Arena Fonte Nova), Sao Paulo (Morumbi stadium), Belo Horizonte (Mineirão stadium) and Brasilia (National Stadium) Most events will be held in the western part of Rio de Janeiro, in the suburb of Barra da Tijuca. In Barra da Tijuca you will find the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Park, with several venues, and the Olympic Village. Currently Rugby sevens, for the first time included at the Olympics, does not have a confirmed location yet (probably the Olympic Stadium).

The controversies part of your OP is gonna be longer than the events part.

I'll get into gymnastics, track and field, and beach volleyball like most Americans do but I also get interested in the martial arts as well as stuff like archery.

Unfortunately, NBC's coverage is horseshit so I am going to have to rely on my bad internet to watch most of the games which sucks.

I plan to live in this thread. I've already scheduled one day off of work to get my teeth cleaned and watch the Olympics. I'm planning on taking a second, just have to decide the day. My coworkers think I'm cute. I think they lack excitement.

Forgot to say, I'm looking forward to swimming, artistic gymnastics, judo, indoor volleyball and rugby the most. Though I do enjoy watching road cycling, conoeing/rowing, divibg, track and field, and tennis too. Really, I just love watching people accretive their dreams. Go World!

After I got the negative out of the way first (I'm worried for the athletes and the people of Rio), let's talk about the positive things.

I can't wait for gymnastics. All kinds of gymnastics, they have always been the highlight of the Olympics for me:

I'm excited :ahmagah:

I'm mainly watching gymnastics tho

It's so weird to think that the Romanians won't have a women's team. It feels like something is missing in women's artistic. But I'm super looking forward to Simone and Uchimura in the all around. I'd love to see her get a gold and him defend his.

NBC doesn't even come in where I live, and I refuse to pay for cable just to get free channels, so I'm with you 100%. I recommend using a vpn extension in your browser. If you can set it to either Canada or the UK, you can watch EVERYTHING. The CBC and BBC do not restrict aces to events at all. So you can see everything in realtime, and since Americans are active in most things you will watch, you will still get to hear about them a bit, but not as much as you would with nbc. Which in the case of gymnastics is actually better because Tim Daggett talkes out of his backside and lies.

Ive been watching some of the old school gymanstic competitions and a lot of the chickens are coming home to roost in terms of the lost artistry and the focus on athleticism and power. I'm pretty casual at gymnastics but I can tell.

It's so difficult because, as much as I depise NBC and most of its coverage, their montages (especially the opening) and their backstory pieces are second to none so I don't want to miss those. I wish there was one channel where I can pick and choose what I want to watch and what channel I want to watch it on that isn't online but that won't ever happen haha.

As a sportsman, this is an event I live for.

I won't be supporting my country aka Team Singapore due to displeasure how they treat the local born for selection. And also with all the big talks on wanting to make Singapore a sports nation, they refuse to stream it live. Instead, we are getting delayed telecast of the events.

I will be supporting Team South Korea instead. I been following many of their sportsman progress.

I am loving forward to ball sports, judo and wrestling the most.

This Olympic also look to be the swan-song of some great Olympians such as Phelp and Bolts
