What is the difference between 'hate' and 'opinion'?

So obviously some Kpop fans think that there is some sort of reciprocity between the two words.

When I state my opinon regarding your bias, it's suddenly hate, but when you openly hate on my bias and get called out for it, it's suddenly an opinon.

Vice versa.

So when is someone hating and when is someone stating an opinion?

We need a 101 on how to state opinions without being a basic bitch.

Opinion is shaped by emotion as well as other factors. Hate is emotion. That's why countering hate with reasonable arguments is fundamentally useless because emotion is the exclusion of reason.

It depends on the way you phrase it.

"He is ugly"

"He isn't my type"

Opinion: I don't like this song. I don't think it's a good song.

Hate: This sOnG fuckinG suCkS tHey deSerVE to flOp wTf!!!!

This. But it's annoying how too many fans get the two confused. Because apparently on OH users don't like it if people have contrasting opinions.

They are not mutually exclusive? An opinion can be hateful, but that is often subjective and up to the interpretation of the individual. This is why the concept of "hate speech" in legislature is so dubious - because what is or is not "hate" is totally at the discretion of the person/people in power. And for that reason it's never applied consistently.

actually I think many users don't know what an opinion is either. when they're stating something as though it's a fact and call it an "opinion".. no, if it's an opinion you should be like "i personally think this artist isn't good" instead of "this artist is shit and he doesn't deserve this praise"

Basically, what everyone is saying. Opinions can be presented in a respectful manner but hate is often unnecessary and redundant and plain rude.

An example:

Opinion - Big Bang's music doesn't do it for me

Irrelevant hate filled comment - Big Bang are trash and I refuse to accept their impact and GD dresses like shit everything they have ever done is horrible

Also, take note that just because you get negged on OH, doesn't you mean you're being hateful. Everyone here is pressed. Although if your rep is -9000 then maybe you want to try something else...

Hate: Straight up calling something bullshit

Opinion: Giving a critic on something - constructive criticism

This, but there are way too many people who mix these up and can't tell the difference. When their bias is criticised constructively or spoken of in an ill manner/getting plain bashed, it's all the same to them

Hate is still an opinion tho

All hateful comments are opinions but not all opinions are hateful comments

These two pretty much sums it up

imo, opinions meant to build you up, while hate tries to bring you down.

hate : their comeback sucks they deserve their nugu title

If you can't identify an opinion without that preface then that is your problem. Prefacing every subjective judgment with "I personally think" is redundant because it goes without saying unless you are socially retarded. If I say "this sushi tastes bad", and another person says "it tastes good", obviously both of us know that neither of those statements are quantifiable with facts, do you really need them to remind you first? i dont mean they literally have to use "i personally think that.." every time lol but if you think that way go ahead. i've seen enough ~opinions on oh to know that some users really do cross the line and go beyond "stating their opinion" while claiming it is
