do chinese people even care that much about kpop? i'm curious

yes. A LOT. if you watch chinese shows you will know that. they always play kpop as BGM not even songs from their own country.

also when I went to China, the streets were full of EXO merch. I even bought EXO game cards

IDK. I feel like it might still be pretty niche? But it seems big enough that Korean stars go on their shows and etc.

And from what I hear BB is almost a household name there?

And isnt EXO really popular in China too?

lol other ppl already answered. yes what they said. :P

They do. Chinese fandoms are super large, and (big) K-pop names are even acknowledge on general, non-music or non-Kpop shows. There's also many Kpop related shows and K-pop is commonly reported on entertainment-news channels.

Also any idol groups with a Chinese member will definitely spur a Chinese fansite. They're also really dedicated - subs comes out like the very next day after the program airs with pretty typesetting and all, and they have Chinese voting Weibos that teaches people and remind people to vote during promo periods, even if all of them have to bypass the firewall (of China). #ThatDedication  :rlytearpls:
