I only know the tiniest tiniest bit of Korean but I'm pretty sure this is the female artist ranking on melon (I think for how many fans they've gained within a certain amount of time, not how many they have overall??):
 

They're #5 right now 

In the overall artist ranking they're #12

 

Also they are close to having 10,000 fans on melon soon.

 

I'm glad people are paying some attention to them already, I hope people really start talking about them a lot when the MV comes out.

This again confirms what i've heard, that IBI (and each of our members individually) are much much hotter in Korea than internationally. Which is a relief and totally awesome, but it's a crime they're not getting as much attention in the english speaking world!

The one thing that sucks is that their prospects for charting well are kind of screwed over by freaking E*O, of all groups, coming back on the same day (i like them im not hating on them, im just bitter about the circumstances). 

 

I don't know why they aren't getting more attention internationally yet. I think its just the timing. International (I mean English speaking mainly) fans kind of depend on more translated news so I feel like attention naturally goes to groups from popular companies and/or they've debuted already. Around the time we found out that I.B.I were actually debuting as a project, people were already immersed in Blackp*nk's debut and the IOI subunit (and also wondering when RV is coming back). 

 

Even though there's been some media coverage, and obviously there is quite a bit of interest in them in Korea, people haven't really caught on yet because so many other things have been going on. (This is why im so frustrated about the e*o comeback happening at the same time lol since so many people are going to be focusing on them, translation websites that international fans use to talk about knet impressions on things will be even more focused on e*o then they already are). 

 

I think the videos coming out from 1thek are helping people figure out who they are. People are becoming interested in them and are asking questions. Individual song cover videos was a really good idea. 

 

I'm trying to bring more awareness about them on tumblr since there are a lot of girl group fans there.

It's not bad considering that the news of IBI becoming real only came about like in july? Although there were rumors about them before july but people brushed off thinking it's merely just a joke and it can never be true.

 

For now IBI aren't getting more attention internationally yet would mainly be because not much news (especially translated ones)about them are easily available on the net yet.

 

It's natural people don't really know about this group since most attention are being paid to famous groups or even new groups those that are already known (months ago) that's going to debut or have already debut. And the hype of produce 101 have somewhat died down internationally since all attention are diverted to IOI and the new girl groups that have IOI members in them (gugudan, DIA (not exactly new), WJSN etc). 

 

Groups llike Black Pink who is under YG, just the name YG itself is already a huge advantage. It's like an advertisement and a big drawing factor for people to pay attention to Black Pink. Not to mention they have been like teasing news about Black Pink for almost 4 years before actually debuting them   and of cos there's the YG fans(international ones)who will naturally translate any updates to keep their international fandom updated.

 

Then you have IOI which we all know it's all thanks to produce 101 which drew lots of attention (in korea itself and internationally) to see who eventually are the 11 girls to debut as IOI. 

 

As for now, i would say IBI which haven't even debut is already considerably popular in korea at least and gradually more and more people internationally are getting to know about them. It's lucky that loen is the one managing them. From webtoons to individual song cover teasers, i would say is something new and refreshing in terms of promoting for a kpop group. And of cos add in the collaboration with 1theK which provides english translations and 1theK itself already having many subscribers also helps alot.

 

Now all that is left is for a proper video to actually tell the story of how IBI came about, since more people will be actually curious how did this special project group come about. Although there is one fan-made one but i guess its better that loen do an "actual" one with the members about IBI something like a documentary other than just the webtoon. 

 

But i have to admit it kinda sucks that of all groups they had to encounter EXO that will be having a comeback on the same day they debut.   But if we think of it in a positive way, it's actually not so bad because EXO will draw lots of attention which means more people will also get to know about IBI too. So it's kinda of like "using" them to promote public awareness for IBI.
