It's funny that Mnet K-pop youtube channel didn't upload the video of IBI's debut performance in M Countdown today. But i guess maybe i shouldn't be surprised at all.

 

I like the song and MV. And of cos including the choreography. The funny thing though was that i saw some koreans in the youtube video of the M Countdown performance arguing about certain parts of the dance is similar/copying Seventeen's or "insert name" group's choreo rofl.. Like seriously? I guess pretty soon no more kpop groups should be able to debut or do comebacks at this rate since almost every thing/idea have already been done/used by everybody  at the rate the number of new kpop groups are churned out every year.Not that i am encouraging copying but what i feel is that at least as long don't copy the whole choreography totally as a whole then i feel it's still ok. It's almost inevitable for some parts of a group's choreography to be recycled/reused since most would have been already used by some other groups and not forgetting they hire same producer/choreography as other groups. But oh well at least we know more people are paying attention to IBI whether they are haters or not, which i guess is good in a way

 

I do hope this singles will have very good response especially digital sales(hitting loen's targeted sales?) that will make loen decide to do more comeback for IBI.

 

You're not surprised? I'm FURIOUS at Mnet honestly   LOL after all, their show introduced these girls, and another of their shows brought them together first 

 

Let's just ignore the 'copying' comments, our girls' choreographer is a living legend who doesn't need to explain herself hahahaha

I wonder if they would call out 2 ballet dancers doing pirouettes "copying each other"

 

Yes, i'm praying they'll slay sales and prove to LOEN that they need to last a long time. Do we have the daily MelOn chart ranking? So far we only know the real-time ranking, and is the peak still #15?

You know something? With their ages 19-22 (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997), i get the feel of a college society / club / sorority from them:

 

Hyeri the sweet young freshman

 

Chaekyung & Suhyun the second-year jokesters

 

Sohee the third-year high-achiever

 

Haein the wise, responsible senior

 

 

And IBI although consists of 5 girls who did take part in produce 101,they don't belong to and are not managed by Mnet so it's naturally seen as a rival to Mnet's girl group IOI even thou both are somewhat considered by fans of produce 101 as two sister groups.

 

Can't we all just get along?

Girl group I.B.I, including “Produce 101†contestants Yoon Chaekyung, Han Hyeri, Lee Soohyun, Lee Haein, and Kim Sohee, made their debut today and shared how they feel to be on stage.

 

On August 18, I.B.I held their debut showcase, on the same day as the release of their single “Molae Molae.â€

 

 

During the event, Kim Sohee sings the song “When the Cherry Blossoms Fade,†which she sang when she was a part of “Produce 101.†She says, “I was so nervous. I thought about ‘Produce 101’ and almost teared up.â€

 

Lee Haein adds, “We actually cried a lot when we practiced this song. I’m so touched to be singing it.â€

Why they didnt upload their performances to official channels? I dont understand.

 

No idea to be honest. Mnet uploaded a lower quality video of IBI's debut performance on M Countdown on their MPD channel(which are mostly fancams video recording) instead of MNet K-POP channel.  For today's music bank performance, there's also another new boy group MASC that had their debut performance with 2 songs. And both those performance videos were uploaded to KBS's KBSKPOP youtube channel while IBI's debut performance wasn't even uploaded but uploaded to Skpb K-Music Live[KBS] with again another low quality video of the performance. How can they bear to treat our 5 cute and adorable angels like that 

 

Just from the looks of things, it could be that the broadcast networks aren't taking I.B.I seriously, like they think 'if they're going to disband after one single, what's the point of promoting them' 

 

Damn it, it's hard being the group no one thought could work out

I haven't been around much to scream about them as much as I've wanted to (I just moved into my apartment for university  )

 

They're doing well in the Melon artist rank again:

(among female groups) 

 

The reason I keep up with this is because I think Melon is a good place for them to keep up a good standing in fans and get more attention (and more people streaming their songs) and also its interesting to look at the demographics 

 

Wow it's really impressive that they've even managed to overtake Twice, although i know it's just the rate of change or something, but it still shows that they're steadily gaining attention 

 

One thing about having mostly male fans though, i've heard they tend to join clubs, attend your events and spazz a lot, but don't spend as much money buying your stuff  just hoping our girls will attract more female fans as well!

I was trying to make a rank the IBI girls. But I can't lol

I know that my number one is Chaekyung, and my second should be Hyeri since she was my second favorite in produce101 with JeonSso... but I realised that I adore Sohee (I blame GoM), sames goes to Pun cause I can ship her with Chaekyung so I'm also in love with her too. And Haein is winning my heart day by day. 

 

I'm sorry but my bias list is crystal clear: Chaekyung > Sohee = Suhyun > Haein = Hyeri

 

I loved Chaeky since Baby Kara, i loved Suhyun since P101 episode 1, and funny thing is i never liked Sohee during P101, but everything after that esp GoM2 made me fall in love with her. Plus Sohee x CK and Suhyun x CK are so damn shippable

As much as I hope Loen does organize one for IBI fans, but i really doubt it will happen anytime soon.

There's too many hindering factor:

1) Too short a notice for Loen to make it happen too soon (counting in IBI members' individual schedule).

1) The cost for holding one(Who is going to bear the cost? The girl's agency + Loen or Just Loen alone?)

2) The earnings from the concert if they do hold one, how are they going to split the earnings?(between the members' agency and Loen)

3) The songs that they can perform right now are kinda limited unless the girls are gonna cover other groups/singers songs besides 'I.B.I' and 'MOLAE MOLAE' during the concert. I don't think Loen would want the girls to be indirectly promoting other groups/singers songs if possible.

 

But of cos, deep down in my heart i do pray and hope they have one.

 

There are many kinds of concerts, it doesn't have to be a full arena one, it can be a mini-live cum fanmeeting. IBI has 2 songs of their own, and can potentially perform all the P101 songs (Pick Me + 5 concepts + WTCBF + Crush), that's a total of 10 songs, add in solo stages, that's around a mini-concert length 

 

I don't think they gonna just disband after one song thou. Loen could have just said it will be a collaboration comprising of Hyeri, sohee, chaekyung, suhyun and haein for a song right at the start (something similar to what DIA's Heehyun and ioi's somi,yoojung and chunha are doing) and only releasing the song on the very day they intended to release it and that's it. But instead they went to such length of creating a group, promoting them as a group, making webtoons, filming mv, appearing in music shows to perform. That's a little overkill even for an Entertainment company like Loen.

LOEN pointedly did not say how long IBI will be together, unlike IOI where it was made clear from the start, and tbh all the thirsty companies can't wait for them to be done sooner. Our girls' agencies seem very supportive of this project, so i believe as long as each party continues to get along well, IBI could be together indefinitely. 

 

Who even said they have to disband once and for all? Can't they stay together forever as a project group?
