kxjay 3,543 Posted July 25, 2016 Share Posted July 25, 2016 disclaimer: this is not a troll thread ​But just think about it, every time someone makes a comparison thread about actual rookies, you get RV being lumped in together with other groups like Gfriend and Twice, but RV has literally been out and active for 2 years now. This is like saying 2011 2ne1 (with IATB, etc.) were still considered rookies. Which brings me to my point, as you can see from their sales thus far... (comparing the three most prominent groups as of now) Red Velvet's Gfriend's Twice's You can clearly very well see a pattern going on here.. With both Twice and Gfriend showing great increase throughout their respectable careers however as for Red Velvet, a great decline in sales is very evident. Even tho Red Velvet have released more singles and being an SM group (you can expect more chances of greater numbers) but that is not the case. They also have only 1 single to have exceeded 1,000,000+ downloads, while both Gfriend and Twice (who has even less amount of singles) have multiple songs greater than 1,000,000+ download. Now, do you think this may be reason why so many people still count them as 'rookies' because they are greatly under performing esp for a group coming out of the #1 entertainment company in South Korea? Their red side is doing well especially from a company whose not known for having digital sells. And SNSDs breakout didn't happen until 2009 with Gee which was two years later. They're sometimes mixed in as rookies too while being 2 years into kpop as well, and you know how awesome Mamamoo's digital sales are, and Lovelyz aren't bad either. I find it funny how you're only focusing on Red Velvet, but you know, thanks for the attention and before you go all "well, they're from SM, they should do better", as mentioned above SM groups take some time before they hit it big.
