So I had 2 Russian Blues before and they've passed away a few years ago, and now I'm considering a new cat.

Edit: And yes guys, I will adopt, but the thing is the animals shelters near my place doesn't have a lot of cats, most are dogs  :derp:

To cat owners here, which one should I get if I want a cat that:

- is good for cuddling

- is independent but playful at times

- doesn't shed too much fur as in a considerable amount is okay

- isn't too similar to a Russian Blue because I'm still sad about it

- adapts well to situations (especially to dogs)

- is small to medium sized

- is not too demanding

Lol I probably have too much requirements but it doesn't necessarily have to meet all of them, thanks :)

I have an American shorthair and she's adorable and playful, also she doesn't demand too much since she is very independent...

But they all look so adorable  And all these things you listed, they all depend to the cat, like two cats from the same breed can be complete opposites.

Also, I adopted.

I know, that's why I asked cat owners what most of them are like  :ahmagah:

The two Russian Blues that I had have different personalities lmao one was really quiet and lazy and the other was very playful

Please please please if you really love cats adopt from the shelter

I used to volunteer there and we work hard to match people with their pets, my shelter had a big binder of all the cats and every time I played with a cat I would fill out a notecard about its personality. You can also request that if they get a certain type of cat that they hold it for you

I would definitely not get a scottish fold. It's not a breed as much as it's a genetic defect that often leads to damaged skeleton and cartilage and degenerative joint diseases, which is just as painful for the cat as it sounds.

As far as i know all the cats you mentioned shed, so the longer the fur the more shed hair you'll have to deal with. I think any of them could fit, it's a lot about the individual.  If it's very important that it has a certain personality or gets along with dogs it's probably a good idea to adopt an adult cat so you already know more about how that individual is.

Cats are as individual as people. There's a breed stereotype, but it's not going to be true for every cat of that breed. Your best bet is a shelter or breed rescue, where they will have a good idea of not just the cat's personality, but whether or not the cat is okay with dogs. Meet lots of cats to find one you click with.
