Don't worry, I'll be re-editing most of these before actual voting begins. It's because of over-saturation and too much contrast. I turned up the saturation because in most of the photos her skin looked really pale, so by increasing saturation it added more color to her face, but it also made the colors that were already prominent before increase even more (like her hair and lips).

 

Then, the added contrast diluted her features (like the strands of her hair) and made it look like one solid color instead of separate ones. I'll fix it though, so it doesn't look too overpowering.

 

Also make sure to keep suggesting photos you think would make good badges so I can make more mocks.

Just a long, rambling rant about some frustrations I have as a fan...

 

 

Being a Seohyun fan is so frustrating. Every time I think she'll finally have her own big project like the other members, I just end up being discouraged in the end. You guys always say to be patient but I'm tired of waiting. There are already rookie idols getting leads in dramas, meanwhile Seohyun's about to be in her 10th year and what does she have? Cameos and supporting roles? She's put into the same projects as her juniors and they get more out of it than her; she should have been getting parts back in 2011 but instead she only debuted in 2013 and ever since then, all she's had are a few cameos and supporting roles.

 

You guys always talk about her finally getting her own solo debut but are we even sure that's gonna happen anytime soon? Yesung debuted in 2005 and he only got his debut this year, what if it's the same for Seohyun? For all we know Tiffany could release her 2nd mini-album and another member (or two) could debut before we even hear news of Seohyun getting a solo. I honestly don't think I can wait any longer. Sometimes I look at other fans and get envious because all their biases constantly have a new project and I'm always stuck waiting for something new from Seohyun. The only time I ever get to see her extensively are during SNSD and TTS comebacks, and they're not even promoting as a group as much as they used to. As a K-pop fan I've spent my time basically talking about what Seohyun wore at the airport today, how she looked at the premiere of X movie, and reading an article about her once in a while that's been translated. There's nothing I have to look forward to, and every time I think there is, it just ends up being a bust.

 

She doesn't even get variety show appearances. I mean what am I even getting out of it as a fan when there's nothing for me? No dramas, no music, no varieties. The only thing she gets are musicals and it's not like I'm in Korea, I'm not gonna be able to watch them. Sometimes I feel like I'm losing out whenever I see other fans with biases who are constantly active and promoting, and I get bored waiting for something that I'm not even sure is coming. Like, she can't even get a Station solo? Are you kidding me? I hate SM, they've held her back for so long and instead of having her "maknae" image helping her, all it's done is serve as an obstacle in her career. Will she be known as "SNSD's maknae Seohyun" forever? Her one calling outside of being an SNSD member is musicals and SM doesn't even support her or promote her activities. She has to fight with her own company to get whatever projects she wants (which is ridiculous because they should be the ones helping her, not holding her back) and still she gets snide comments from netizens and I-fans alike, talking about crap they know nothing about, like how SM helped her in getting her role for Mamma Mia when she actually had to work hard to get it all on her own because God knows SM isn't there for her.

 

Sunny is about to debut in her first drama and her first role already sounds bigger than anything Seohyun has ever gotten. If Seohyun doesn't renew her contract next year I wouldn't blame her. SM has done nothing for her, and now that I think about it, her situation reminds me of how YG treated Minzy (except Minzy's was even worse because 2NE1 didn't even get that many comebacks). The only thing I can think of though, are how Sones would react. There's no doubt in my mind that many of her "casual fans" would turn their back on her for "betraying" the group and leaving. It would honestly make me laugh because I don't think they realize how valuable Seohyun is to the group. Without her, the group would have to be carried by Taeyeon and it would officially be the "Taeny show" that people have been complaining about for some time now. If she doesn't renew I hope SM realizes the talent they lost out on.

Which, by the way, would be kinda ironic: I like the group as a whole, I really do, but let's be real when it comes to most of its fans: most of them care little about Seohyun, only reducing her as the eternally shy and awkward maknae, Seobot or whatnot... How many have ever been truly supportive of Seohyun, apart from using her name when it comes in handy to brag about the group or the company, or to bash another member? But I digress; again, I am bitter.

Yas the truth has been spoken. They're so quick to bring up Seohyun whenever they have to brag about SNSD's vocals and argue with someone, but otherwise they pay no mind to her. Some of them completely act like she's not even there half the time and use the same tired ass insults they've been using since 2009 (Seobot, boring, nun, etc.) like get some creativity pls. 

 

The only time they actually pay any attention to her (other than for bragging purposes) is when they feel like she's being spoiled by SM and getting too much promotion in things like TTS, which can't be farther from the truth because the other members get more activities than her. I can't believe some fans (especially SHY stans) dare get annoyed that Seohyun gets to promote in TTS and attack her along with the other 2 members when it's clear that there's a huge gap in the way SM treats Taeny to how they treat Seohyun. Taeny is their lovechild and Seohyun is relegated to their step-child who they only use when they need someone to cover for vocals, but otherwise they just toss her aside and cockblock and ruin every opportunity she gets to shine on her own.

 

SHY gets more individual activities than her even when she's in TTS but then their fans get upset whenever we bring up a potential Seohyun solo and regurgitate the same argument: "NOT ALL THE TTS MEMBERS HAVE TO GET SOLOS! GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE!" How about you stfu bitch? Seohyun has lost out on so many things already and the other member's fans are already so spoiled, but apparently it's us, the maknae's stans, that are "soooo annoying and demanding" right? Because we want something for our bias for once? Bitch pls. Sones don't appreciate her, they don't realize all the work she puts into the group; always covering for the other member's weaker vocals and yet she gets no recognition for it at all. Even now you still have people arguing whether she rightfully deserves the title of '2nd best SNSD vocal', when it's clear as day that she's better than T*iffany.

I re-edited some of the badges. I lowered the saturation in some of them and lessened the contrast because it was too overpowering and made the badges look overly edited (I understand some people like @Yalo had issues with this). Instead I focused on enriching the colors that were already there without reaching excessive levels of over-saturation. I also fixed the crops for some of them because I felt like they were too zoomed in and some of the badges were completely covered with just her face. I think it looks better because the negative space lets the image "breathe" more, instead of just looking like I tried to fit her face almost entirely within the confines of the badge.

 

So far I've only edited the ones you've have submitted to the 2016 SNSD Award Voting Thread, as they're the priority at the moment. Before you suggest any more please tell me (remember to quote the list like I asked, and I'll also check to see if I can edit the badges before you submit them into the thread).

 

 

So yeah, here's the before and after:

I did, however, fix the color balance because in the original I thought her face looked a little too pinkish.

^ This is one I actually increased contrast and saturation because when I checked how the badge looks minimized (like how they'd appear in a forum post), I thought it stood out more whereas the first one looked a bit faded.

I for one think the 2nd looks much better.

PS. I really like the edited verions of badges. Good job! But I think the last one actually looked better less saturated. I believe the slightly faded look was the charm of it.

Her Instagram game is improving. First that new selfie and now this? I love it. Btw, did she get a new phone? Her photos look way more clear and HD, and the quality of the photos is just better. It's good if you use more "organic" looking filters so they look more natural. Hopefully she starts uploading more creative photos and not just selcas, I'm looking forward to her new aesthetic.

Because Tae*yeon stans are so much better?  LMAO Not to mention those rabid Taeny shippers, I can't...

They just don't like us now because we're not as compliant and "quiet" or "reserved" as we used to be. They don't like it because ever since 2012 we've been more vocal about Seohyun and what she deserves, and they can't stand it because only they're allowed to voice their opinions; we're just supposed to fade into the background and support the group. We're not supposed to or allowed to complain, we're just Seohyun stans after all. 

 

I sometimes low-key hope Seohyun would just up and leave the group because it's clear Sones (at least I-Sones) don't and/or rarely ever support her or care about her. Most of them don't even know her that well, that's why they're still recycling the same tired jokes since 2009. Basically what's happened is that they already had this idea of what they thought Seohyun was like, which is quiet and reliant on the other members, and someone who doesn't voice their opinions or know how to be independent. In reality they got it completely twisted because Seohyun is one of the most ambitious members, if not the most ambitious and headstrong. Not to mention she's incredibly vocal with her opinions even if they may not be popular (e.g. Seohyun's answers on 'Hello Counselor'). Sones know deep down how valuable she is since she's the second best vocalist and the group's harmonizer; the group's vocal quality would go to shit if they lost Seohyun too. If Seohyun were to leave, I just hope Tae*yeon won't ruin her voice because God knows she'll have to carry the group's vocals by herself since Seohyun and Sica are MIA.

Whenever someone tries to dispute Seohyun's spot as the vocal line's best dancer, just show them this performance.

  

  

Just watching the video, you can see the gap between her and the two other TTS members. Why it's even up for debate is questionable, considering Seohyun is essentially a dance line member (that's why she's always included in the lineup whenever they had to do complex choreography along with SHYY). What's also really impressive is how she can keep up so well while wearing those shoes. Queen tbh~

JUST MY OPINION:

As much as I love that girl, I think I disagree slightly. I mean - she's great at following choreography. Her moves can be on point and powerful. But I think that she's a little bit stiff sometimes, just feeling too much self-concious. Don't get me wrong - I think she is good dancer, but best dancer in vocal line for me is Ta**eon - she has that aura, and flow while dancing and I never saw her awkward. Maybe less "on point" but with much more feel, it's comfortable to watch.

Seohyun blend well with others with her dancing - and, I my opinion, has a body that look very good while dancing. Maybe that's why they chose her so much. But, for me Ta**eon is better. I don't know about the raw skill - but the aura and overall delivery.

 

But I always appreciate Seohyun's dancing, because we see so little of it lately, and I generally like looking at her and think she's good dancer. Maybe just a little bit more confidence (she's gaining a lot doing musicals) and she'll rock the stages

Seohyun is more precise and rarely makes mistakes (even less than some of the official dance line members), whereas Tae*yeon often times is lazy and gets the choreo wrong (not as much as T*ffany and S*nny, but you get the point). Maybe in the past Taeyeon was better because her movements are more "fluid", but when you fail to put in any effort and half-ass your dancing, I'm not gonna acknowledge your prowess however good you were or could be. It reminds me of when Sica stans used to say that J*ssica was one of the best dancers in SNSD because of her pre-debut vids but that's all in the past; she stopped putting in any effort and regressed, so no matter how good she was, she obviously isn't anymore. Also, their Holler era stages (particularly "Adrenaline") showed a clear gap in skill between Seohyun and the other 2, whether it's due to lack of effort or whatever, I'm not gonna go out of my way to make an excuse for them. But it's cool, we all have different opinions and perspectives after all.

Tbh I don't want a blonde Seo badge. I feel like it'll be so outdated once next badge season rolls around (kind of like how our current badge is). I don't think she'll have blonde hair again for a long time and she's not really known for that hair color like Hyoyeon is so when people see the badge they may not even recognize it's Seohyun. But I think Seohyun has the best batch of badges out of all the members, we had some really nice photoshoots this year and last year.

Sorry I couldn't reply earlier, I didn't have my laptop with me and I wasn't at my house. I already made a mock of that photo and it wasn't well received; it only got 3 votes with that poll we took in this thread, that's why no one suggested it.

 

Btw, I think if we're going to be suggesting anything for the wildcard round, we should limit it and not suggest too many because it could take votes away from the badge you want to win that's already in the top 5. Also, Yen said that since we're on a tight schedule we won't be having a preliminary round for the wildcard badges and all of them are going straight into the finals.

I'm a bit worried though, if we suggest too many badges it will split all the votes and what if a badge we don't like wins? Again, Yen said there will not be a preliminary round for the wildcard badges, all suggestions go straight to the final voting phase. Maybe one of you could convince them to change their mind and hold a preliminary round anyways? That way there won't be too many choices to choose from and we can narrow down on which badge we want.
