Ugh, honestly though... Sones piss me off sometimes, they always wanna undermine Seohyun's abilities. Even when she's improved so much they choose to ignore it or just shove it aside like it's nothing; I believe that if someone works hard and betters themselves it should be recognized because to just ignore their strides and effort to improve is diminishing their hard work.

 

It still upsets me sometimes how stubborn this fandom can be. They don't wanna admit when Seohyun is better at something than another member... You see everyone acknowledges Taeyeon is the best singer, Hyoyeon is the best dancer, Sooyoung the best actress, Yoona the one known for visuals, etc. but for some reason they don't wanna give credit where credit is due when it comes to Seohyun. They always wanna take away from her and when we Seomates complain about how we (sometimes) feel she's underrated within the fandom, Sones start talking about how we complain too much and that if anyone is underrated it's Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Yuri, Sunny, etc. This fandom is the type to tear another member down to put their faves on a pedestal tbh. I personally feel as though international fans especially treat Seohyun unfairly, I'm glad Korean fans seem to show more love for her.

So basically if you're arguing with someone about Seohyun getting plastic surgery just link that blog to them and/or post the pics on the blog and then watch them backpedal because they have no proof of her getting anything done.

 

She literally looks the same; I get that sometimes her face gets bloated or puffy but if you look at her pre-debut photos it's always been like that and she usually gains weight during winter (LOL like a bear). As for her (supposedly) getting botox, I'm still on the fence about that and I'm more inclined to not believe it because (again) there's no proof other than badly angled photos with terrible lighting that make her cheeks look larger than they actually are, but also because botox doesn't work like that. If you look at her candid photos, some days her cheeks look puffy and sometimes not, I'd attribute it to water weight and lack of sleep more than anything, not to mention numerous other variables like hairstyle which is important in framing your face (you see this when she has bangs), makeup and again angles/lighting.

 

Also, I looked up how often you're supposed to get botox shots and most people get them every 2 to 6 months, with the average being every 4 months. So that means you only get shots maybe 4-2 times a year, but with Seohyun her face fluctuates sometimes weekly, sometimes daily, so unless she's getting botox every few days then I seriously doubt it. And also because most people that get botox get it to decrease the amount of wrinkles on their face, but Seohyun is only 24 so I don't understand why she would even need to get botox when she's the youngest in her group and no one is accusing the other members of getting botox, right?

 

Basically all this speculation is stupid as fuck, I've even ran across a few people accusing her of getting a nosejob (LMAO) when her nose clearly looks the same in pre-debut photos. Even more recently I argued with someone who was claiming that she got her boobs done in 2015 because quote: "she got boobs out of nowhere"... ????  Really? That's why? People have no actual proof to provide when you call them out on this other than ignorance mainly because they don't know crap about Seohyun or follow her like we do. If anyone knows more about her it's us right? But no, when we defend her we're apparently delusional. LMAO At least we don't go around accusing people of getting surgery when we don't even know anything about them. I mean Seohyun is the same girl that got her ears pierced only recently in 2013(?) and she went with her mom, I honestly question whether she would go through with any cosmetic operations because she doesn't seem like the type and also because I doubt her parents would approve of it either; not saying Seohyun is dependent on her parent's wishes but she certainly would consider their thoughts on the matter because she's like that. So yeah, that's what I have to say. Hopefully the stupid accusations from her haters will die down because it's so stupid stirring shitty rumors like that about another person, not to mention it's just rude as fuck.

I'm kind of annoyed the banner with the tacky colorist message for Yuri's drama support said "from SNSD" because aside from being a messy and unnecessary comment, it implicates every member. Seohyun wouldn't suggest something like that. For one, she is super careful about what she says and who it might hurt. She's culturally sensitive has an awareness of SNSD's international audience. Girl looks up to a diplomat after all. I actually remember Seohyun saying she envies Sooyoung's brown skin and wished she could pull it off (when they were promoting Tommy H together). She's even the only member that's done numerous photo shoots with skin DARKER than her natural color (Teen Vogue, W, Singles). Which is extremely rare in a culture that values pale skin and few people voluntarily appear tan.  

 

Anyway she's been in her own zone focusing all her time and energy on her own activities. I doubt she had much say in the coffee truck, if she even knew about it. None of this is to say it's impossible she was involved, but I highly doubt it. I don't want to brag or rub her "perfectness" in any other threads because everyone's biases have flaws but I'll say this here: I'm glad up until now she's always been careful and thoughtful, even about little things. It might make her "boring" as a celebrity, but at least as a person she doesn't disappoint or embarrass me. In the future, maybe she will. But for now it's really remarkable she hasn't. So I have no reason not to trust her.

I agree, it annoys me because now Seohyun is getting part of the blame when she most likely didn't even have anything to do with it. She's too occupied with her musical and she didn't even have much time to hang out with Sooyoung at her birthday party because of it so I doubt she had enough time to go get this banner made or even give it her approval. It's so annoying seeing I-fans blame all the members when they don't even know who is and who isn't responsible for it. I guarantee Seohyun didn't have anything to do with it because (as you said) she's always been careful with her words and she wouldn't make a banner saying that because she's mindful of the fact that she has fans from all over the world and it could (potentially) offend some them. If the other member(s) wanted to surprise Yuri like that they should have kept SNSD's name out of it because now all the members will be implicated and that's just not fair for the ones that had no hand in it.

 

I see comments on NetizenBuzz right now with people saying "I'm a SONE but drag the group please" and "that's so ugly of them to do that"... I can't. Who exacly is "them"? And why "drag" the entire group when you don't even know which member(s) were actually aware and responsible for the banner? I believe Seohyun should be exempt of the ridicule because she's never commented on another member's skin tone except for praise (like she did with Sooyoung) so I trust that she wouldn't approve the making of that banner. I'm tired of seeing her always get lumped into what the other members are doing as if she's not independent of their actions. And when I or other Seomates defend her we're suddenly delusional because we're her fans? If we weren't fans would our words and opinions hold more credibility then? Everything I'm stating are facts, unless Seohyun herself said something colorist then I don't see why she should get part of the blame.

 

And for the record, let's get one thing straight: fans know more about their bias than any of these non-fans ever will. So while yes, there are ignorant and delusional fans; most fans will generally be more knowledgeable about their bias than anyone who isn't so our opinions definitely hold more weight. I wonder how many of these people passing judgment on Seohyun even know when her birthday is without looking it up because I assure you most of them don't, just like they (probably) don't know that she's too busy right now to even be involved in the making of that banner.

^ And to add to my point above, this is [sometimes] what rubs me the wrong way about [some] fans of SNSD... They're willing to excuse instances where Seohyun is left out of the group (like in photos, videos, hugs, etc.) but when the time comes that SNSD is facing torment (usually from other K-pop fans), they suddenly consider Seohyun an integral part of SNSD. They're all of a sudden like: "Seohyun too, you have to count Seohyun too!", like right now with that Sone on NetizenBuzz saying they should "drag" the whole group even when Seohyun (probably) didn't have anything to do with it. So basically what you're telling me is that when she's left out it's okay and it's "not a big deal", but in moments like this she's suddenly not free of the blame? She's a part of the group so she has to be guilty too right? Ridiculous. I'm not just defending Seohyun because I'm her fan btw; I'm also saying this because I've been accused of being an accomplice numerous times before whenever my friends did something wrong, and to be honest, it doesn't feel good. It's never fun to be blamed for something you had no part in doing.

Seohyun as I recall is the only one (along with Jessica and maybe Yoona) who has never made a joke about Yuri's or Sooyoung's skin throughout her career. Even then I still don't take these jokes among close friends seriously because they are still just jokes that they've always made with each other. Tiffany's been called a pig, Seohyun has been made fun of for her ears during their debut, Taeyeon and the short team for their height. I've seen worse said about someone's skin tone (being black and living in the South will teach you that) so I feel like this is something trivial in comparison to what I've seen and experienced. And even then there are times when members have called Yuri the most beautiful or the sexiest member of the group regardless of her skin tone.

Yeah, didn't Yoona choose Yuri as one of the top 5 prettiest girls in SM along with Taeyeon when they guested on Weekly Idol? To be honest I don't think they had any malicious intent with the banner but at the same time they should be aware that they have fans all over the world and should be more careful with jokes even if it's just about each other; it's the burden of a celebrity to be scrutinized for everything they do, and it's even worse when you drag other members into it by putting "SNSD" on the banner. I personally think Tiffany (especially since she supposedly chose the photos on the banner herself and had that emoji thing a few weeks ago), needs to learn a thing or two about maintaining her image from Seohyun and Yoona; I swear those two have never had any major scandals while Tiffany has probably had the most along with Taeyeon (discounting Jessica). With that said I do think everyone was being a bit extra about it, in both defending and hating the girls. Really it's not the end of the world, I just don't want Seohyun to be blamed when I'm confident she didn't have anything to do with it (taking into consideration how busy she is with her musical and all). People can call me delusional or whatever but it just goes to show how much faith I put in this girl; I trust she wouldn't be foolish enough to approve that banner.

It's 2016 and there's still stuff like this...

Seohyun is in 3rd place (lol) and the person who made the video is going around calling it "official".

 

Obviously there are people in the comments saying she's wrong and she called it her "opinion"... When will people realize that vocal analysis has nothing to do with opinions or personal preference? Technique is objective, it doesn't matter who's voice or "vocal color" you like more.

Small rant:

I'm honestly wondering what it would take for people to accept Seohyun's position as SNSD's 2nd best vocalist? Maybe go on "Masked Best Singer" and prove her abilities? Maybe not even then; Tiffany could lose her voice completely and these people would probably still say she's a better vocalist than Seohyun.

I don't know what it is with them, you'd think that as a fan you would be supportive of a member's effort to improve and not downplay it like it was all a waste of time because you'll just refuse to recognize it anyways. Even non-fans of SNSD say Seohyun's a better vocalist than Tiffany yet there are still Sones who somehow think Tiffany (and sometimes Sunny) are better than her. Videos like this just validate their delusion tbh, and Seohyun's maknae image (although I love it), has hindered her from getting the recognition she deserves with Sones still making a big deal out of her kiss scenes and stuff as if she's a child when she's already 24. As long as we support her it's alright I guess.

They need to stop trying to make her look as short as the other 2, it doesn't work.

And why do they always put her off to the side? It looks better when you put the tall one in the middle, it balances it out.

 

In TTS photoshoots they almost always put her on the left or right; rarely in the center.

And they'll always have a shoot with just Taeyeon and Tiffany together while Seohyun is nowhere in sight.

It's kind of annoying since it's the same thing over and over again tbh.

Honestly most K-pop idols aren't very talented, never mind multi-talented. Just reading her interviews and you'll see she always has something smart and insightful to say. Does anyone else get annoyed whenever people compare Seohyun to Gfriend's Umji?

 

Now I have nothing against the girl and I actually like Gfriend (they're my fave rookie group along with Oh My Girl) but honestly tho... Seohyun is really pretty and talented, Umji is nothing like her. Sorry to say it but K-netz pretty much think Umji is ugly so whenever I see people say Seohyun looks like her or that she reminds them of Seohyun I kind of feel insulted. LOL

 

Like they're basically saying "Oh you know that girl netz think is ugly? Yeah, she looks like Seohyun." Like stfu please. K-netz obviously find Seohyun pretty if you just bothered to read her articles' comments. Regardless of the hate comments that NB translates (with like 15 upvotes), most K-netz agree that Seohyun is pretty, especially irl. In this Pann post (translated by Koreaboo) they talk about girl group's visual lines and Seohyun is considered part of SNSD's visual line along with Yoona and Taeyeon, which reminds me - people need to stop deluding themselves thinking it's Jessica or Yuri because Seohyun fits Korean beauty standards more than either of them.

 

Does anyone remember when Seohyun's Marie Claire magazine sold out in less than 3 minutes (whereas Yoona, Taeyeon and Jessica's took a whole day sell out when they all came out at the same time)? Yeah, exactly. If K-netz thought she was ugly then her magazine wouldn't have sold out the fastest, let alone in less than 3 minutes. Not to mention how her airport fashion gets 500,000+ views where the normal is only 20,000... Now that's saying something.

Sometimes I think Tzuyu's side profile looks a bit like Seohyun's; there's a hint of resemblance there (I think it's the eyes).

The people saying Umji is ugly are specifically bullies who think its okay to be mean to a teenage girl and make her so uncomfortable she has to hide herself. I don't take any of these people seriously because they think thats okay (because they can be as mean and nasty to an underage girl as they want as long as they are anonymously online and no one can judge their own looks). Umji is super cute. In fact, the only comparisons I've seen between the two is people saying the reason they added her to the group was to have the cute, chubby cheeked maknae vibe. I don't see it as negative at all. 

Some people actually think they look alike. I don't like it when people compare Seohyun to anyone, like when people were making vs threads between her and Seolhyun, they're not similar at all! Just because they have similar [stage] names? Really? It's so annoying tbh. The reason I stan Seohyun is because she's so different from everyone else, there's literally no one in K-pop that's like her imo. If anything Umji looks like Lee Hi.

The only time I ever saw Seohyun compared that Gfriend member is people saying she has "Maknae image" like Seohyun and that's why she's in the group. People aren't comparing their looks so I don't know where you're getting "they're calling Seohyun ugly" from that. Since she's bullied by netizens I guess it was a way to compliment her. Please don't read too much into things like that or be insecure. If people are comparing rookie girl group members to Seohyun just take it as a sign of the impression she leaves. People love to say Seohyun doesn't stand out but they can spot a "Seohyun-like" personality/image/look/whatever from a mile away. She's very unique.

 

Anyway this is a just side note but one thing idol fans have to get used to is not everyone is going to find their bias attractive. If people don't find Seohyun pretty I don't care because I find her pretty and I value my own opinion more. The only thing that holds her back is her awkwardness in front of cameras, but that's diminishing by the day. She gets attacked most when she's tired and show signs of being human, so I hate when when she's overworked. I say this because once Seohyun starts acting, netizens are going to attack her looks per routine, and we shouldn't get up in arms about it. People know deep down she's a beauty :P

 

IMO there's so many actresses who are nowhere near as pretty as Seohyun but because they debuted as actresses people will overpraise them, even the plastic ones. Whereas someone like Seohyun who's mannerly, intelligent, has been pretty since she was young, who has a golden proportioned body, who has a natural elegance and cinematic beauty, and who has a look that is super versatile to different concepts will get picked at for not having "actress visuals". I'm not saying everyone has to find her pretty, but it'll automatically be skewed negatively. It's just a bias that's always going to be there. It happens even in Hollywood (vs pop stars). We should be secure anyway. Seohyun's a very secure, wise and positive person. As long as we support her the same way she'll naturally attract more fans and good energy.

They are though... I don't find Umji ugly or anything, and there's plenty of idols in K-pop that I actually do consider unattractive like Ni*el, Dong*woo, etc. (mostly male idols) and I know not everyone will have the same opinion regarding which idols they find attractive and unattractive since appearances are entirely subjective... But when I see I-fans say she looks like Seohyun I get the impression that they're shading Seohyun - maybe I'm looking too deep into it but people are really subtle with it so I can't fully tell whether they're being insulting or not. They know what [some] K-netz think about Umji so when they say she looks like Seohyun I'm just like "what are you trying to say?" It's kind of my fault for going into the bashing thread knowing the kind of things people say in there so I do get a little peeved at people nowadays whenever I see them compare Seohyun to anybody because I can't tell if they're being disingenuous or not.

 

And that thing you were saying about how people say Seohyun doesn't stand out or that she's "boring" or "a robot" but then turn around and say x idol reminds them of Seohyun (usually with a negative connotation)... It's annoying to me. If she doesn't stand out then how come you automatically think of her? Like for example, I find Suho really attractive, the most attractive in EXO, but people also consider him boring and whenever that topic comes about they mention how he's similar to Seohyun; it's as though they've associated being boring with Seohyun like that's one of her defining traits. What I get from it is that they're only willing to attribute traits they find negative or unlikable on Seohyun while completely ignoring everything else about her. They never notice her or pay her any attention but when they do it's most definitely negative. LMAO I'm becoming paranoid thinking everyone's out to get my bias... Maybe I should try to be more secure like Seohyun; it's kinda hard when your bias is just so damn flawless everyone else tries to drag her down.
