After School’s Lizzy recent trip to Dokdo (also known as Liancourt Rocks), the subject of a long, ongoing territorial debate between Japan and South Korea, has received negative response from her Japanese fans.

On July 18, Lizzy posted on her Instagram, “Will I be able to enter Dokdo, where people say three generations of your family must be virtuous before allowed entry?,†along with a photo of her ticket and a small South Korean flag.

Approximately two hours later, she updated her fans that she successfully arrived on the island, with a series of photos taken on the island.

In one particular photo, she stands shoulder-to-shoulder with South Korea’s Dokdo Guards, along with a caption that says, “Dokdo is our land. Thank you. I feel reassured.â€

However, many Japanese fans reacted negatively to her post, and expressed their extreme dissatisfaction at Lizzy’s posts.

Many of the comments on her photos say things like, “Don’t come to Japan ever again,†and “We request that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs takes measures to bar you from entering [Japan].â€

K-netz are responding back in support of Lizzy and with messages like, “Dokdo is ours! [Korean flag] [Korean flag] [Korean flag].†/Oh the irony! /

This is not the first time Japanese people have reacted negatively to a South Korean celebrity’s support for Dokdo. In 2012, actor Song Il Gook was physically barred from entering the country until further notice by the Japanese government for participating in a event where he swam to Dokdo on August 15, 2012, which marks the anniversary of Korea’s liberation from imperial Japan.

Singer Lee Seung Chul was also forced to return to Korea while trying to enter Japan on a trip in 2014. While there was no official statement given on why this decision was cast, many speculated it was due to the singer’s concerts held in Dokdo earlier that year.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Lizzy safely returned to nearby Ulleungdo by boat after an extremely brief stay on Dokdo in accordance with a pre-determined schedule.

What are your thoughts on this situation?

This is expected just like SEA countries's fans' reactions over Chinese idols.

Idols should stay away from political issues or you deserve the heat.

If you're not turned on to politics, politics will turn on you.

Given Knetz criticism of c-idols' public support of China in a territorial dispute, really curious to see how Knetz will react to Lizzy's public support of Korea in their own territorial dispute.

And we still don't care...

Get it? NO? okay  :)  :)

We (public) and celebs will pay attention and support if we interest on the issue... if not, no one can forced us to say some patriotic shit that we don't want to and has no interest.

Lizzy randomly take this to herself (when it's not even discussion in Korea right now), so I'm not feel bad if she get whatever backlash in Japan.

This isn't even similar to some of the Chinese idols' cases where they pretty much had no choice but to post their support. Lizzy brought this upon herself for no reason lol.

It is really not a Smart action and sns post, she still promo and sell music & Performance in Japan music market 😞

To be honest, much more Better for her if she only post photo on her sns when she is in Dokdo without any provocative message. Something like: "Dokdo" or "Trip to Dokdo".

It doesn't depend on whether we care or not lol

Yes!!!

But no one can forced us to say shit or show support on politic matter to our government that we dont want LOL unlike your country (since u always on your high horse expected celebs to make a stance on SEA issue, even calling out Yoona for not taken side), our celebrities can say fuck off to our government and public/fans if they even asking them to LMAO

Actually, public/fans wouldn't even expect them in the first place.

I am sure you (well, we all tbh) can and will do everything it takes for the sake of our beloved ones

what??

Americans aren't Chinese, so yeah...

Actually, public/fans wouldn't even expect them in the first place. If the celebs interest, they can say in SNS but should be expected that people that disagree with them will bash them--and boom catfight...The end.

The end.

That's the irony here. Your (taiwanese, I guess) can say fuck off to Taiwan government but can't to the chinese. Hence, number of taiwanese stars bowing to China. Tzuyu being forced to bow down to China too. Even if chinese pressured her, she could have NOT bow down to them. But she had to to defend JYPE, other JYPE artists career in China. Same with Lay and Vic, I guess?
