Twice VS GFriend- Who will win Song of the Year, 2016? Analysis- [ Digital | Chart | YT | Physical]

 

 

 

Before I start my analysis, the competition is strictly between Twice and GFriend only. I know big acts like BB or SNSD (probably) is planning to have CB in the second half of 2016 and it's too early decide SOTY- that having said, I am so tired of Once being dragged left and right every time Twice accomplishes something. Sure, the chances of Twice or GFriend winning against Big Acts are really low but there’s no harm in finding a Winner between these TWO ONLY. From what little I have seen, Twice is hated here on OH [ who could very well be Twice Haters, Trolls or Fans of other groups] for no apparent reason which is just beyond me. However, I do admit that Onces aren’t any exception either. Some Onces are acting lit’bit cocky which without a doubt, may come across like rude fans and make them dislike the Twice. Regardless, I hope people would give credit to Twice where it's due.

 

 

 

Things you have to know to understand the Calculations:

â—     For each category, there are sub categories. For e.g. Digital Sales is a Category whereas Streaming and Downloads are sub-Categories. Numbers in both Sub categories are added together to find the total Number and 100% is based on that total number.

 

â—      4 Standard Categories for MAMA SOTY Award- Digital Sales, Charts, Physical sales and YouTube Views. Fan Votes are excluded to make the calculation as accurate as possible. Each category carries 25% making Grand Total 100%.

 

 

â—     All the percentage of Sub-Categories are converted into 100% first followed by MAMA’s 25% for respective sub-category. Then all of them are added together at the end and converted into MAMA’s 25% for respective CATEGORY.

(Note: I have included the Downloads and Streaming numbers till Week 10 coz that’s the most accurate way to evaluate their success properly. Sure, if you look at total Digital Sales from their release date, Rough has overwhelming gap in both Download and streaming but you have to take their Release Dates into consideration as well. Rough has 3 months’ advantage. However, if you look at streaming number for each Song for First Ten weeks, Cheer Up has higher Streaming Number each week till Week Ten. On the Other hand, Rough has Higher Download over all. So, it's accurate to count their Digital Sales per week)

(Note: Fan Votes aren’t including coz they are unpredictable. Granted that Twice has bigger fandom but you never know)

Conclusion: Looking at their Digital Sales, Chart Ranking, Physical Sale and YouTube Views, I’d say Twice has achieved more. The only Category where GFriend has better achievement is Digital Sales with 1.49m+ Downloads and 76.29M+ Streaming compared to Twice’s 56.68M+ Streaming and 1.09M+ Downloads. Even this win is arguable cos Rough was released 3 Months earlier than Cheer up. I am not taking anything away from Rough. The things Rough have achieved are really impressive. Just wanna make things fair coz Rough has had time advantage. So based on achievements alone, I think Cheer up has better chance of winning against Rough for SOTY.

 

I’d like to add BTS as another TOP contender for SOTY. Since they would have massive physical sales, massive fan votes and decent YT, they do stand a chance unless BB and SNSD make a Comeback. EXO is gonna take away Artist of the Year [and AOTY] provided that BB and SNSD do not make a comeback.

After 11 weeks Cheer up has more downloads and way more streams if you compare by weeks. At the end of the year Twice will walk out with SOTY award and leave antis depressed

 

also this if TWICE and GFriend both made a comeback around or at the same times TWICE would be ahead the only reason GF are ahead is because they came back months earlier

Another minute, another thread about Gfriend. Onces have no chill. Someone send them some tea. This TwicexGfriend and same old posts are boring. :imstupid:

 

Unlike other users, I used calculations and their achievements in Numbers to back up my thread. I have never seen anyone make a thread about SOTY using facts- so if such thread has been made then MOD is free to lock this thread. I have no problem this thread being locked if thread of such nature has been made before.
