Yup, they say only those with national/wide public recognition get that exposure. Interviews seem much rarer. K-media seems to view Peaceminusone and/or this comeback as a huge feat since feature it this much. O_o I'm excited and happy for him as a fan lol

Korean Cultural Icon  :hurr:  Let's make a topic about it and the all-kill news after the program tonight

Little Jiyong's career

G-Dragon's humble beginnings as a child star revealed on tvN's 'The List 2015'

G-Dragon was said to have been active with actor Ryu Duk Hwan in the past as 'little idols.'

The July 13 airing of tvN's 'The List 2015' featured a topic titled, 'Thank you for growing up well! Former child star's successful past.' On this very specific list, G-Dragon managed to place eighth.

Actor Ryu Duk Hwan exposed the Big Bang leader's humble beginnings as he told the viewers, "I met G-Dragon on MBC's 'Popopo' and formed a group with him. We performed at grape festivals and clam festivals. One time we even opened for H.O.T as the 'mini H.O.T."

Though the two went on very separate paths, both are very successful in their respective careers, with G-Dragon having proved himself as a songwriter / producer time and time again and Ryu Duk Hwan having made his name as both a film and TV actor.

How K-pop star G-Dragon took over Paris couture
 http://www.dazeddigi...r-paris-couture

With his eccentric style, the musician is an icon in his native Korea. Now, the fashion elite are catching up

1129968.jpg

As leader of boyband BIGBANG for the past seven years, G-Dragon has not only been a top-tier pop star throughout Asia, but a fashion icon too. A natural style chameleon, his taste is fluid and far reaching: in his wardrobe, off-the-runway pieces from Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Rick Owens and Balmain mingle with avant streetwear from Hood By Air, KTZ, Ambush. Perhaps it's no surprise that the front row invites from designers such as Yohji Yamamoto to Lanvin have been forthcoming since 2012, but this Paris couture season marked G-Dragon’s entrée into the big leagues. The 26-year-old brought a shock of colour to the Chanel Casino, where he threw dice and rubbed shoulders with Kristen Stewart, Lily Rose Depp, Julianne Moore and Kanye West. Savvy move, Chanel – and a one-up to LVMH, invested a cool $60 million in G-Dragon’s parent record label YG Entertainment last year. Revisit some of his #PFW diary here, and check out his top 5 most eye-popping music video moments.

G-DRAGON'S FIVE WILDEST MUSIC VIDEOS

BIGBANG – "BANG BANG BANG"
BIGBANG – "FANTASTIC BABY"
G-DRAGON – "CRAYON"

In an article about Japanese - Chinese - Korean culture, GQ Korea mentions GD as one of most influential people on cultural/entertainment side of Korea now:

Q: If we need to pick a person with most cultural influence, who is it?

A: Last year GQ Korean hold a survey about "For you, who is this generation's icon?" with 100 readers and GD got the most votes, even the people who isn't his fan voted for him. He's also the only star in the list. His style, his music are like what you called "What is the best here currently" indicators (the answer  also talks about IC and 3Meals1Day PDs)

GD's mention in Esquire Korea's article (Nov 2015), "The men of our time" (the only singer in the list of 20)

The last sentence: "An artist with that much cultural influence, happens only once for a generation. Be able to witness him is somewhat kind of luck."

G-Dragon in Paris, Another Appearance on Chanel’s Front Row

PARIS — The latest stage of the Asian invasion of the Paris couture season occurred at the Chanel show, held at the Grand Palais on Tuesday morning.

While the creative director Karl Lagerfeld’s muses remained out in force (the model and actress Cara Delevingne with her puppy Leo and the actresses Diane Kruger and Clémence Poésy), the star attraction proved to be G-Dragon, a South Korean pop star-turned-rapper and aspiring fashion entrepreneur who set Twitter alight with his naval-captain-inspired Chanel couture suit, flawless foundation and gigantic black fur hat.

A former teenage sensation and leader of the K-Pop boyband Big Bang, G-Dragon (whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong) has been a front-row fixture at recent Chanel shows the world over, from Dallas to Paris. His chameleon style, kaleidoscopic hair shades and catchy songs have won him an army of fans in the millions in Asia, especially in his home country. (This no doubt explains part of his appeal for Chanel, who has identified South Korea as a leading luxury growth market.)

“Of course I wanted to come to the couture shows again, it is an amazing spectacle,†he said after the models had left the runway. “Since getting to know Karl, I have learned a huge amount from him and his work. I also like that he is a man whose image is incredibly distinctive — you hear his name and you can picture him immediately in your mind. I find that very inspiring.â€

G-Dragon, who said he has made several investments in Asian fashion companies in recent months, emphasized that, while he had aspirations for the fashion world, they did not involve being a designer. “I would only create clothes myself if I felt I could do something really different — create a new style subculture for my generation and that is very ambitious,†he said. “What is more interesting to me is how all my worlds appear to be colliding at the moment — music, film, fashion and art — you can be one man, but be a force that combines all of those sectors together. There are business opportunities to be found within that.â€

On previous visits to Paris, G-Dragon said, he had focused on shopping, but this time he planned to go to art galleries. “I now know that inspirations must come from everywhere,†he said, tilting his head toward Chanel’s artificial bright blue sky, part of the show set. “The sights you can find here in Paris are second to none.â€

6 Times G-Dragon Was the Best Dressed Man at Chanel

http://www.vogue.com...nt-row-fashion/

What is it about G-Dragon? Spotted in the front row at Chanel’s couture showtoday, the chameleonic K-pop star cut a dramatic figure against the bucolic backdrop in an enormous fur ushanka that even outdid a dog-carrying Cara Delevingne—and demonstrated once again his uncanny knack for larger-than-life style that remains wearably cool.

This morning’s ushanka was not G-Dragon’s only showstopping Chanel look: Ever since his first appearance at the Pre-Fall 2014 collection in Dallas, he has become a textbook example of how boring bouclé can be anything but. Take the Spring 2015 show, for instance, where the 27-year-old gabbed with model Soo Joo Park and Karl Lagerfeld in reflective blue pants and a burgundy tweed jacket, obscuring his mop of curls with a Birkin-esque suede hat—a playful update to classic French gamine codes. Next up, at Spring couture, he gave Chanel a street-punk edge by pairing ripped jeans with an outré logo belt, a white bouclé coat with a Lurex-lined train, and oversize shades, while Fall 2015 couture’s casino-themed outingcalled for something unexpected: A well-cut tux with no ornamentation, save for a Poison Ivy red pompadour. Is it any wonder that Karl keeps him around?

It’s a surprisingly measured approach that involves taking a polished base (pastel twinsets, classic black suits) and adding one over-the-top embellishment, whether that means an oversize fur hat or a shocking dye job—a K-pop-style reinvention that has us inspired to rethink the tweed, too. Here’s hoping Chanel’s love affair with G-Dragon is no passing fad: Just good fashion.

- G-Dragon -

http://hypebeast.com/the-hypebeast-hundred-2015/g-dragon

gdragon-landscape-2015.jpg

If you’re at all familiar with k-pop, it’s likely that G-Dragon is the first name that comes to mind. Having graced the Issue 6 cover of HYPEBEAST Magazine back in 2014, the South Korean pop sensation’s success continues to prosper within the realms of music, fashion and culture. First skyrocketing to fame as the lead singer of the k-pop idol group Big Bang, the band made a high-profile comeback in 2015 with their third studio album, MADE, after a three-year hiatus. The group, comprised of G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung and Seungri, commenced their 'MADE' world tour with two sold-out shows in Seoul back in April of this year. Since then, Big Bang has broken a slew of k-pop records including the largest k-pop arena tour in US history. On top of all that, the singer-songwriter-producer visited the studio of controversial photographer Terry Richardson once again, following an exclusive collaborative capsule collection launched in tandem with Italian luxury footwear designer Giuseppe Zanotti. Without an indication of slowing down any time soon, G-Dragon will continue to tour into 2016 with Big Bang and will likely continue his global meteoric rise.
