Are there places that everyone loves/seems overrated but you really don't like them? And why?

Golden Gate Bridge in San Fran

Don't get me wrong, the view of the gate and bay is gorgeous.

However, the weather near it is always frigid and windy (And it wasn't it had slightly cold weather, it was cold straight out.)

I went there in May, and it felt like I went there in the dead winter.

As you guys can see, I have a strong hatred for the cold. lmao

omfg i do not understand people's obsession with england, i live here and i can tell you it isn't that great really.
it's not all fields. the boys aren't nice/sweet/cute. you'll probably see more tracksuits on the streets than you would during the olympics.

i blame dr who and one direction for the influx of anglophiles.

edit: also about 1% of the population speak with what americans think is a british accent...

haha I make fun of tumblr anglophiles on the reg, some of them are just so.... awful. I don't mind if people are interested in the UK at all but some of them really take it too far... but I also find them hilarious

same for people who have a weird romantic view of Ireland, but I'm used to that after a lifetime of American and Canadian tourists

I guess I think Dublin is overrated. it's okay as a place to visit for a day, but it doesn't represent Ireland to me and it doesn't seem like a place I'd ever want to live. it feels like a town trying too hard to be a city.

idk man England seems really cool. It's different? Compared to Toronto, London seems much more interesting (or UK is more interesting than Canada). That being said, I like England lol.

For me, it's probably the tropical places. I don't care for them tbh. They're just beaches lol.

Also, some cities in U.S.A. Meh.

As for my homeland, probably Montreal. I rather go to P.E.I. or New Brunswick.

London is interesting. I live here and I still think so. but England doesn't = London. London is an entity unto itself because it's such a major world city, lol. I think British people and people who live in Britain have a hard time finding it as interesting as anglophiles do because the things anglophiles tend to fixate on are completely unrelated to modern common British life and more old-fashioned upper class things or things that only exist in pop culture or fantasy. at least in my experience they certainly are. and people resent that, especially because the UK has a strong class divide.

I've been to Toronto in the late 90s. it was nice, but a little bland. I'd visit again, but I don't have a burning desire to...

I think London I do like it and I've visited it a lot of times but there's just this overall cold feeling I get from it that I don't get from other cities? It's like I would never want to live there maybe it's because of those people that scream in your face if you stand on the wrong side of the escalators in the tube stations lol

San Fransisco. It feels so dirty there and overcrowded (unless you go during the week). And the main tourist attractions aren't all that great.

Also In N' Out. It's not bad or anything but it's definitely overrated. I was surprised when I found out even Kpop idols dream of going there because it's not that different from any other fast food restaurant. I remember I told this guy I didn't think it was all that great before and it was like I offended him. He kept asking me questions, trying to figure out what was wrong with me and he was so rude about it. He was all "oh you must be from the east coast" and I was like "uh no, I've lived in California longer than you have." Thankfully that shut him up.
