Wow Golden Bomber...Probably because it's so popular with karaoke

But Koisuru Fortune Cookie is so basic

Japan really like it tho.................... :._.:

It's like the new Heavy Rotation

Which mean AKB will sing this song on every year end show for the next 3 yrs  :._.:

I'm surprised Ninjari Ban Ban is so high up on the list, but it's definitely a good single, my favourite so far from Kyary

I never realised how popular Ninjari Ban Ban has been.

How can you NOT know how popular Ninjari Ban Ban was???

There are only 3 songs released in 2013 who have been certified digital platinum by RIAJ:

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Ninjari Ban Ban (released 2013-03-13)

Yumi Arai - Contrail (released 2013-07-03)

Linked Horizon - Guren no Yumiya (released 2013-07-10)

That these songs "only" ranked as #3, #21 and #12 on the Recohoku yearly chart only goes to to show that Recochoku chart isn't all that matter

(it's also pretty cool that Yuming's song from 1973 that was re-released basically owned the charts again 40 years later)

Because some people are more about music than the charts. Shocking, I know!

I don't think they've released all their certs for the year. Also, they split digital certifications between mobile downloads and PC downloads.

Also, you can't discount 2012 songs that were popular in 2013. That doesn't make any sense.

1.

They have released certifications for up until the end of October.

2.

Yes RIAJ split it in PC and Mobile:

A total of 3 songs have been certified platinum for 250,000 PC downloads, as I posted above.

Only 1 single song has even managed to get certified gold for 100,000 mobile downloads. That's how irrelevant this part has become. And that one song is none other than Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Ninjari Ban Ban which also was one of the 3 songs certified for platinum.

3.

I didn't discount songs from 2012. There are obviously many songs from 2012 ranking high, but that has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

The most popular songs released in 2013 are Kyary, Yumi and Linked Horizon - FACT.

Those 3 songs charted much higher on Amazon and Mora than what they did on Recochoku - FACT.

Conclusion: the ranking on Amazon and Mora better reflect how popular the songs are.

Older songs ranking higher on Recochoku does not mean the charts of Amazon and Mora are more 'legit,' again that doesn't make sense - an older song can in fact sell more than recently released songs, they can be more popular, they may have gotten their certifications before, and since the next certifications require more downloads, it takes more time. Memeshikute is a hit that achieved that kind of longevity. Seeing as there are two months left, there's no telling if Koi Suru Fortune Cookie will be certified in the next coming months. I highly disagree that Amazon and Mora better reflect this, your receipts are flimsy- at best. The differences to me seem negligible, and Recochoku is still more popular and relevant in selling digital music than Amazon or Mora. Naturally, iTunes is #1 considering that Apple has the majority of the smartphone marketshare and they basically replaced Mora as the default store on popular websites more than five years ago. Recochoku is more relevant and up-to-date than either, they have apps on the iOS store, including a streaming service ala Spotify and Rdio.

These top-100 charts revealed are typically to the end of November, so it's one month left.

AKB's song is of course ranking very high on Mora and Amazon too since it's a huge hit and it will quite possibly also reach platinum soon.

There are old song ranking high on other sites too: Memeshikute is #2 on Mora. Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi-tachi yo is #4 on Mora etc.

The point is,

Kyara, Yumi and Linked are the best selling new songs.

And their sales clearly do NOT primarily come from Recochoku, because they are NOT charting that high there.

Which simply means that people are WRONG in thinking that Recochoku is the most important chart. Which is something I've been saying for quite some time now.

And even if you say that iTunes is #1 and Recochoku is #2 ahead of the other sites, it's still a case that those other sites seem to better mirror the overall total.

But as I said in another thread...

Some j-stans that are very much behind on things

If Recochoku has the larger marketshare, then even if they place at a lower ranking on the chart, they are probably selling more copies in Recochoku. Since we don't have the exact figures, it's hard to make claims like that. There are one or two ways to make hits: selling a lot when the song or album comes out and/or having longevity. Both ways are valid in my book.

I doubt people are taking the charts as gospel, it's a mistake to focus too hard on exact positioning especially when digital charts are spread out thin between customer bases and not consolidated into just one chart. Since iTunes only has realtime, Recochoku is the next best bet.

Are you really trying to bring that crap in this thread too? Let's not have a repeat of earlier today...

Thank you! This is why I post the Recochoku charts. If iTunes had reliable daily, weekly, and monthly charts, I would post those. And when I look at the iTunes chart is pretty much mirrors that of Recochoku.

And this person you're arguing with knows nothing of Japanese music besides charts and SNSD.

Recochoku has past it's prime. iTunes and Mora are definitely bigger now.

It's iTunes, then Recochoku, then Mora.
