What do you think is Seventeens appeal to Japan and why they're selling a lot there?

because talent. it leads to winning (it doesn't help that they're the most goodlooking k-boygroup out there by average)

plus their concepts are super boyband-ish and cute summer schooboy type. we all know how japan loves the cutesy and aegyo stuff more than korea actually does.

kpop is fairly niche there right, so I wonder if these sales mean much

but yeah...I'm still surprised by the sales since they haven't even held fanmeets there . I'm not sure what it is.

idk how true this but apparently for some of their fansigns 50% of the fans that attended were japanese (is that a lot?)

and once again this is another rumour but for the people that applied for their japan concerts via lottery, half of them didn't get in.

edit: visuals? maybe they like their kind of visuals and the flowerboy concept

I guess the japanese fanbase makes up for the lack of chinese fanbase

If we relate it to Japan's anime culture, we can say that they're a good reverse harem? :D

Loli Shota Boy: Dino

The Handsome Narcissist: Jun

The Cute Energetic Type: Hoshi

The Guy With A Cute Accent: The8

The Half Blood Foreigner: Vernon

The Charismatic Leader: Scoups

The Mysterious Emo Guy: Wonwoo

The Nasty Guy: Mingyu

The Diva: Seungkwan

The Always Smiling Guy: DK

The Pretty Boy: Jeonghan

The Foreign Exchange Student: Joshua

The Tsundere: Woozi

I kinda forgot some of the terms. I'm sorry guys, but i tried.  :har:

This is just my thoughts on it, but I think that it’s something about the show they started out in, same with TWICE and SIXTEEN, it gives a sense of having something to do with the initial start of the group, like you had a part of them becoming something…. Well it’s just a thought but it’s not completely unlikely <3

HAHAHAHAHAH!! I'm so sorry. I've been watching too much anime. I can't help but relate Dino to Mitsukuni "Honey" (the Loli Shota) of Ouran Highschool Host Club which is a really popular reverse harem anime of its time btw. He's like a man trapped in a boy's body. So kyot!   :har:

This is completely my own opinion and has not been properly researched on:

It can be attributed partly to the differences in culture, I suppose... Japan is a lot more used to groups with a crapton of members. Just look at AKB48 and their sister groups (SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, NGT48, Nogi46, etc...)

AKB48 also has this concept where fans see how the members grow as they progress from being trainees, to regular members, etc. It's similar to how SVT showcased their own debut project in Seventeen Project.

Also, the Japanese are much more accepting of 'long-haired pretty boys' compared to Korea, partly because of their huge anime industry. (Not that Koreans aren't, its just that I've heard Jeonghan say that uni wasn't very fun for him, probably because he had been made fun of for his long hair)

The Japanese really like cute stuff. As a boy group which uses very different concepts when compared to other BGs like EXO and BTS. SVT's concepts are usually a lot more cute, as compared to EXO's latest Monster or BTS' Fire.

These are the most likely ones I've seen. Feel free to correct me
