What if a trainee is the most talented at everything?

Recommended Posts

If there was an extremely beautiful/handsome trainee that was the most talented dancer, singer and rapper in the entertainment he/she was in,would they still become the member of a group or become a solo artist?

In mosy groups everyone has a "job", for example the main singer is an amazing vocalist, but okay at dancing or the main dancer is the best dancer, but what if someone is the best at everything and also the visual?

(I'm just interested since this hasn't happend yet xD)

What the point of being in a group if you can carry all the positions by your own

Beyonce did that but she's more successful as a solo

Exactly. The ""perfect group"" is when you can't see a member without the others, because they truly complete each other.

That relies on the extent of their talent.

If the trainee's dancing is at Kim Hyoyeon level, and his or her vocal skill is at Ailee level, and the rapping is also at such a high level, as are the visuals, then the trainee would debut as a soloist, otherwise he or she would entirely overshadow the entirety of the group and gain unprecedented fame and success. It would be impossible for other members to be popular in a balanced or healthy manner, seeing as the trainee would be able to attract people who stan talent and visuals both (usually it is one, or the other).

However, if the level of their talent was milder, to the extent that others in the group are as good as them an can still shine, they would debut in a group. If the trainee was, say, Kwon Yuri level dancing, and Kang Seulgi or Min Sunye level vocals, with strong yet not overwhelmingly powerful visuals, then a group would fit well for them, as they could balance the group's talent out without fully outshining the others.

You mean...TVXQ? Though, there are many senior groups that are equally as good as soloists as they are in a group. Everyone has their style, and some soloists focus either on being a great singer, or being a great dancer too. The formula isn't all too different as idol groups actually, I feel -w- it is true that as a group everyone can hide their weaknesses and focus on their strengths as a whole, compared to a soloist who's usually expected to have some kind of calibre and level in most regards.

On the other hand, if the person stands out far too much in a group that made it seem like 'xx member and the boys/girls', then perhaps it would be better to go solo for them. I prefer seeing well balanced out groups than having one solo member who's too good at everything compared to the other members. Wouldn't the dynamics be awkward as well? ;;

I'd put that versatile member in a group first and then after they gain some fame I'd give him solo. As K-pop is like group-dominant now, it's easier to get success with a group than solo.
