Snow App: The Snapchat Copy That’s Popular in Asia

Recommended Posts

We're obsessed too.

The South Korea-based Snow app is like Snapchat in many ways, but might arguably be better. It’s garnered over 30 million users since its September launch, according to The New York Times and for many good reasons. Chief among them? The countless, entertaining, and adorable filters — over 100 actually.

Similar to Snapchat, messages disappear, and the Live section of Snow mimics a Snap Story, and, unlike Snapchat, you can send your filtered face to Instagram or Facebook, according to Refinery29. You can turn yourself into everything from a police officer to a fried egg, and even take things a step further by using digital stickers.

Tech Insider alleges that Snow is a complete rip-off of Snapchat, but it’s a viable alternative for users in China where the American app is banned. As a result, app creators in Asia have stepped in to fill the void with great success.

Needless to say, the sharing capabilities and numerous filters can be addicting, and while we're not about to leave Snapchat, we're definitely a little addicted to Snow.

but Snow has better filters.

Where in Snapchat can I find a filter that has me slurping up ramyun or make me look like I'm in a shoujo anime with cherry blossoms fluttering down around me?

Never tried it before but based on your recommendations I'll try it out later

I like Snow better than Snapchat, has a ton more filters and they're more on the cute side, which I like. Snapchat has only 13 lenses at a time that get rotated on different days  though they're nice quality effects, a lot of them aren't that fun or interesting.
