What do you consider to be quality music?

I literally look at quality of the product, as in clarity of the recording, direction (was there a set theme or purpose? This includes lyrics), production (did it look like something that took time and was well thought out?), individuality (did it sound like there was risk involved or did the artist at least try to make it their own?), etc.

If I can give something high scores in all aspects then I consider it to be quality music. Things like voice, tone, genre, style... those things are important but they don't always define quality. One doesn't have to be a particularly excellent singer in order to produce good music, and tone is subjective anyway.

In the end we all have different standards, so I believe quality is up to the individual.

I usually look for (in no particular order) lyrics, production quality, meaning, and uniqueness, just to name a few.

This question gets asked a million times in a million different ways, but it is kind of like trying to explain what makes something funny: its almost impossible to put it into words, but you just know it when you hear it.

The type that requires you to hang a "do not disturb" sign on the bedroom door
before pressing the play button.

The type that you can immerse yourself into, regardless of how old it is.

For example:

Anything from this fine lady.
