When you congratulate someone for winning an award show,

When you congratulate someone for winning an award show, are you just congratulating on how popular they are relative to the competition? each group or artist works hard for their comebacks.

While you can argue how talented, how beautiful, or how amazing their songs are, the fact is, when a group wins, it just means they sold enough albums or songs relative to the competition.

It doesn't mean they're not talented, not beautiful, or their songs are bad, but there's no way to measure that. you can only really measure popularity; hence the name kpop.

of course, you would still congratulate them if you like them or if you feel they've worked hard for their win, but the fact is, all groups and artists work hard. they sometimes have no say on how popular they can become. UNLESS, you help contribute to the artistry of your work: if you composed or wrote the lyrics or designed a part of the album in any way. but still, it's a popularity game.

there are definitely some unique cases for this..but for the most part, the groups that win rely on being most popular...hence selling the most.
