Um I think that's pretty impressive for 9 girl groups to be in competition with each other than compared to the US where it's basically fifth harmony's land. Korea doesn't revolve around kpop idols so even 9 is good, plus not all girl groups have even come back yet (girls day, wonder girls etc).

Not really......... Girl Groups had a much stronger presence on the charts for years... its just this year that its gotten really bad.... but its natural I guess...... the older gens are slowly declining while the rookies are slowly rising...

They had a stronger presence because honestly Kpop was the most mainstream, but even then the market was so small i could name all the groups easily and there weren't as many either. The digital market is also now changing as a whole and there are also so many different genres on the charts which is nice to see, I agree its natural, but 9 girl groups?

I honestly think that's alright since there is lack of stability in the market, no.1 on release but out the top 100 in a week, a korean comment said the state of melon is a like a fast food restaurant lol. It's really tough, longevity and branding is key, girl groups seem to be stronger than the boys but I'm surprised so many are doing well, It was worse for rookies in 2011 and 2012 no one was checking for them.
