A 2016 South Korean television series Descendants of the Sun will embrace a film version in China.

Famous Chinese director Zhang Yibai (Eternal Moment, Fleet of Times) is appointed to supervise the production of the upcoming film.

"I feel big pressure since the TV drama series Descendants of the Sun is already a big hit with very charming male and female protagonists. I think the production of a film should not only take advantage of the powerful popularity of the television series but also see some improvement."

Zhang Yibai made the statement at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon. However the cast of the film hasn't been decided yet.

In KBS2's 16-episode drama series, main characters are played by Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye-Kyo, and filming took place in Greece for about a month in September, 2015.

A remake? Ugh nooo

It's the movie version. Actually, I don't like the drama and also don't know why so many people loved it. I didn't even finish ep 1.

I honestly did not understand the appeal of the show. The leads were cute...the storyline was jacked... Maybe it's because I just didn't care about the leads being attractive and sweet together idk

Same here. I tried and tried to watch up to 4 episodes thinking the story would be better but it wasn't. Don't get the hype except the hot actor.

Feel like more of the appeal came from the leads than the plot itself. Therefore, an adaptation would almost certainly not do well, because they won't have the same leads. Even if they do, their images would've been "soaked up" already. Personal opinion.
