The YouTuber and campaigner was beaten by “three guys†and ended up in hospital.

Calum McSwiggan revealed via Instagram that late last night that he had been attacked after attending VidCon – An online video convention.

The YouTube personality told his followers that he had three broken teeth and stitches in his head after being beaten up by “three guys†outside a gay club. He also said that the authorities had made him feel like a “second class citizen.â€

“Last night was the worst night of my life and I’m really struggling to find the words to talk about it,†Calum wrote on Instagram.

“After one of the most wonderful weekends at VidCon we went out to a gay club to celebrate, and towards the end of the evening I was separated from my friends and beaten up by three guys.

“The authorities should have been there to help and protect me but instead they treated me like a second class citizen.â€

“With three broken teeth and six stitches in my forehead, I’ve never felt so terrified to be a gay man in the public eye.

“All I can do is thank my wonderful friends @riyadhk, @melaniiemurphy and @douga_ for being with me the whole way. I’d be lost without them. Right now I don’t feel that I’m in the right place to talk about this but I will be addressing this fully in the future.â€

Fellow YouTuber and friend Riyadh Khalaf was at VidcCon with Calum, and stayed with him after the attack. He commented on Twitter that it appeared to be a targeted attack against Calum and his friends, saying: “These people knew where we were going to be because of our posts on social media before we went out and even said our names as they beat him.â€

He added that it was “Terrifying to see this shit still goes on in today’s world.â€

I've never heard of him but as soon as I saw the title, I thought, he's gay.

A lot of the famous Youtubers are gay...

their typical flamboyant, screechy, OTT personalities must align with what makes a good, attention capturing video. Even a lot of the top Youtubers who are straight like PewDiePie exhibit those obonoxious, stereotypical traits.

Anyhoo, I can't stand those z-list celebs myself, but this is a bit extreme.

The gay community has been under attack much more than usual. Whenever I hear a case of "hate crime" or "target attack", I tend to think of them and a few others first. No one can deny that  the attacks on this group has been getting worse and worse. That is why I assumed he was gay. I was right when I said that. Another attack on someone of the lgbt community.

Just being the devil's advocate here but how does he know that they targeted him because he's gay and not because they have another reason to dislike him? I mean, if they just dislike gay people, they could just attack any person at the club but they specifically targeted him.
