I'm up to episode 10 and, so far, it's been an enjoyable show. Lee Sun Bin is a rather attractive young woman. She needs to be in more shows.

Great to know dear, hope you will enjoy the show till the end..  :hurr:

Police Unit 38: Episode 13 RECAP

TOP.jpg

Patience is a skill that all the best conmen need to master, and it’s a virtue that is tested in our scammers repeatedly on this show. As we hurtle towards the final week of bad guys pitted against the truly evil, we try to keep up with the master swindler and his canny crew, and enjoy the ride with the sure knowledge that our own patience will be rewarded with an explosive payoff.

Sung-il testifies in court against Jung-do, and the judge sentences him to ten years in prison. As a betrayed Jung-do is escorted away by the guards, he looks at Sung-il, who grimly stares back. In a flashback, we see that when Jung-do assaulted Sung-il in the police station and pushed him behind a desk, he used their split second of privacy to tell him to find Chairman Choi’s real stash of cash, and to survive by selling Jung-do out.

Two years later, Sung-hee visits Jung-do in the penitentiary. They smile at each other, and Sung-hee says she’s there to tell him something. It’s about Sung-il. Things have gotten progressively worse for him since the incident with Jung-do, she says. He’s even confided in Sung-hee about what really happened between him and Jung-do, and what they planned to do once Jung-do gets out.

Police Unit 38: Episode 14

This show! It doesn’t run out of twists! Every week leaves me scrabbling around for my brains, but isn’t the utter assurance of the storytelling just so compelling? It plays its cards astutely and without a trace of self-satisfaction at its own cleverness, focusing instead on delivering well-timed curveballs and payoffs. But most reassuringly, it knows its win ultimately doesn’t lie in its complexity, but in its ability to take us along for the ride.

EPISODE 14 RECAP

Madam Noh greets the newly-released Chairman Wang with a full retinue of henchmen, over which he’s jovially dismissive. He tells Madam Noh that his first port of call is Jung-do.

In a humble neighborhood, Chairman Choi plays baduk when someone approaches him. It’s Jae-sung, out of prison and unpleasant as ever. Displacing Choi’s game-partner, he places a piece on the board and remarks on the irony of coming out of jail to find his old provider President Bang behind bars himself.

He offers to sell Choi information worth good money—specifically, $5 million—which will have Mayor Chun at his beck and call, but Choi doesn’t bite. Jae-sung smirks and tells him to call him if he changes his mind. In a parting shot, he adds that Jung-do, that guy who nearly took him down, was also released on parole.

Here’s Why Viewers Are Demanding A Second Season Of “Squad 38â€

“Squad 38†wrapped up its final episode on August 6, and viewers are already demanding a second season.

The drama was a surprise hit, recording the highest viewership rating ever received by an OCN original series. Although it started off on June 17 with only 1.6 percent, it quickly rose to 4.1 percent by its last episode.

Many viewers were drawn to the drama by its excellent story and brilliant acting. “Squad 38†tells the story of a tax official named Baek Sung Il (Ma Dong Seok) who teams up with the con man Yang Jung Do (Seo In Guk) and creates a task force to stop wealthy people using illegal shortcuts to evade taxes.

The writer of the drama had previously written about similar themes involving con men. This particular story touches on the idea of “cleaning up†a great evil by committing lesser evils, a theme that translated well both domestically and abroad. The concept of con artists teaming up to stop a greater evil was well-received among audiences as well.

Meanwhile, Ma Dong Seok’s tough-guy image and skill in action scenes gave the drama its thrills, but his “secret†warmer side gave it its heart. He did an excellent job at portraying a character who has little tact or special talent, but is persistent in the face of fire, while his attempts at learning from the con artists created funny moments.

Seo In Guk also impressed with his chemistry with the veteran actor, as well as the charm and suavity he brought to the role of the sly con artist, reminiscent of the fox from Disney’s “Zootopia.†The villains also played up to their roles, making the audiences clench their fists and raising the tension.

Police Unit 38: Episode 16 (Final)

pu16-00009a.jpg

How many times can a show blow your mind before there isn’t any mind left? When you think there just CAN’T be any more twists, Police Unit 38 ups the ante once again, taking a whole new direction as the past collides with the present in one last, all-out, life-or-death showdown between the bad guys, the other bad guys, the not-so-bad guys, the maybe-bad guys, and our resident bears. But when your philosophy is to fight until you win…surely it’s only a matter of time?

FINAL EPISODE RECAP

Jung-do wraps up his council of war at the Freezer and thanks Madam Noh for agreeing to the plan. He sends Mi-joo along with her, but before they go, Sung-il instructs them to each save themselves, should things go wrong.

Afterwards, the two men remain in silence, Jung-do with his head bowed, until Sung-il asks if he’s not going to tell them the whole plan, since they’ll be hurt when they find out later. “So what if they get hurt?†Jung-do replies, raising his head with a half-smile, “Ajusshi, I’m a con artist.†But despite his words, it’s clear he cares.

Madam Noh parts with Mi-joo with the warning that this scam could end them all, so she should find her own way out. She and Ji-yeon drive away, and Madam Noh agrees when Ji-yeon says they should do as Chairman Wang tells them.

I finished the first 2 episodes and I loved them! I hope I get to enjoy the rest of them. :)

I don't mind the lack of romance, but I was also expecting a lot of JungHee.

Well since this drama is not 100% about romance Kkkkkkk~  :hurr:
