since i'm the 2nd gen people, of course it's 2009 for me. 2nd gen groups reached their peaks in 2008-2009. though i stanned dbsk at that time and ofc 2008 was such a blessed year for me, i gotta admit 2009 songs are unbeatable. i mean, look at this list (not in particular order):

 

snsd's "gee"/"genie"

jessica & park myungsoo's "naengmyun"

super junior's "sorry sorry"

shinee's "ring ding dong"

2pm's "again and again"

kara's "mister"

brown eyed girl's "abracadabra"

baek jiyoung's "my ear candy"

4minute's "hot issue"

2ne1's "fire"/"i don't care"

after school's "diva"/"because of you"

taeyang's "wedding dress"

kim taewoo's "love rain"

son dambi's "saturday night"

what's your favorite year in kpop?

 

for references, representative songs in my opinion of each year (only knew 2008-onwards). there were many other songs i'm dying to put but i just listed what i thought:

 

2008: big bang's "haru haru", dbsk's "mirotic", wonder girls' "nobody", lee hyori's "u-go-girl", rain's "rainism"

2009: snsd's "gee", suju's "sorry sorry", 2ne1's "i don't care", beg's "abracadabra", 2pm's "again and again"

2010: iu's "good day", iu & seulong's "nagging", miss a's "bad girl good girl", 10cm's "americano", hot potato's "confession"

2011: f(x)'s "hot summer", b2st's "fiction", infinite's "be mine", t-ara's "roly poly", 2ne1's "i am the best"

2012: psy's "gangnam style", big bang's "fantastic baby", sistar's "loving u", busker busker's "cherry blossom ending", sistar's "alone"

2013: exo's "growl", apink's "no no no", crayon pop's "bar bar bar", snsd's "i got a boy", psy's "gentleman"

2014: soyu & junggigo's "some", akmu's "200%", park hyoshin's "wildflower", taeyang's "eyes nose lips", san e & raina's "a midsummer night's sweetness"

2015: big bang's "bang bang bang", zion.t's "yanghwa brdg", exid's "up and down", hyukoh's "wing wing" (yes it's released on 2014 but it got super popular in 2015), aoa's "heart attack"

 

2016 (so far): gfriend's "rough", twice's "cheer up".

2013. I feel as if for me it's 2016 bc EXO finally feels like they have solidified. Both as a group (ot9) and their status as legends.

 

However, 2013 feels like a year that will forever be laced in Gold for them. The year they were at their peak as ot12. The year they blew up.

 

2013 Cheers to the past and 2016, cheers to the present and future.
