MMO's vs. MOBA? Which Games do you prefer and why?

Recommended Posts

MMOs haven't had a good title in a long time.  MOBA have top developers and a glut of new ones.

So I prefer a good MMO, but people stopped making them and the formulas got played out.

I prefer MMOs but they have been so boring and uninspired lately

Most cash grab games coming out

MOBAs are super fun now

Agreed, especially that Korean MMO Black Desert, I played for a day, it was all 'buy this from the cash shop' etc and frustrated me!

MMOs. I hate PvP and therefore MOBAs, and I like everything about MMOs other than how the existing companies manage the existing MMOs. The games themselves, though, are amazing in my opinion.

What are you favourite MMO's? I can't get into any other than WOW and Final Fantasy tbh. xD

mmos become ctrl+c ctrl+v and cash grab nowadays, so mobas

Tbf, every popular moba (outside of Outwatch (kind of)) uses the template from Dota, a game that came out in 2004.

MOBAs because of the required time investment to enjoy yourself. I love MMOS but it takes way too long to get into the game (which makes it hard when you have a full time job), microtransactions are way more infuriating, and they are all so uninspired in terms of concept (which you need because MMO is short for MMORPG).

I prefer MMOs that are not pay to win which is almost impossible to find.

Try Final Fantasy XIV! It's subscription based but it's not play to win at all, there is a cash shop for glamour and mounts only.

But the combat is quite slow, it's still the only MMO I like after WOW though.

I've actually never played WOW other than a WOWhead friend making me play a few hours when I was like 14.

As unpopular as this opinion may be, I really enjoyed and continue to enjoy Runescape, and not just for the nostalgia feels. My favorite MMO of all is probably DDO (Dungeons & Dragons Online, by the company Turbine--quite a dinosaur now and it may be quite cash-grabby now, but it's incredible). I'm currently mainly playing TERA, mostly for the combat system and friends.

Exactly, most MOBA's use DOTA as a Template, and most MMO's use WOW xD

Nice suggestions, Thank you :) i'll give them a try, I need to keep myself busy after suffering a leg injury and being home ridden pretty much for the next 4 months >.<

Moba's are too repetitive so MMO's but there hasn't been a good one in forever, hopefully that sword art online MMO is good.

though ironically the only game I play competitively is Call of Duty  :imstupid:

Thank you for the recommendation. I'll give it a shot and see if I like it.
