I respect JYP for trying to break into the U.S. market. But SM knew better--America is a different ball game. K-Pop idols don't have a snowballs chance in hell over here. But Wonder Girls made it further than anyone else.

I don't remember because I got into kpop in 2011.

Wasn't that a dent in their career though? While they promoted in america SNSD got traction in korea?

well they charted on billboard hot 100 at #76 so they did get some some traction in America. + also got radio airplay

No they didn't. SM tried to break into the American market with BoA in 2009 (self-titled album) and again with Girls' Generation in 2011 (The Boys). Needless to say, things didn't go too well in the US for either of them.

they did, they didn't release anything in Korea in 2009 and only released 2 different tears in 2010 and then didn't release anything til nov 2011 so some of their Korean fanbase decreased

However they still were really popular with the General Public, WG has 4.1m downloads for Be My Baby, 2 Different Tears also did really well digitally
