Both the story and acting ( I am not that great a judge of acting so not sure if the acting was that great) I am currently in need of similar light hearted drama of humour genre whose central storyline isn't a love story. If you have any such suggestions, kindly tell me. Since this is my first J-Drama, suggest even the most popular ones because I don't know much about east-asian dramas. If you want to laugh so hard and have a good time.^^ And yes as mentioned above, You need to watch nodame cantabile.It's a must watch as well. I have seen a LOT of jdramas but that was a long time ago and I've really enjoyed it. I even enjoyed it more than the kdramas I have watched at some point hahaha reminiscing the good old days. Anyway, 1 Litre of tears is REALLY GOODas well. It only has 10 ep if I remember it correctly. Just prepare a lot of tissue paper. Oh wait scratch that, just prepare a towel instead. Nobuta wo produce was mentioned above, I remember liking that drama maybe because I was a huge kame fan back the n but when I rewatched it I got so bored.
