Teenage girl found locked in a room from coerced prostitution

A few days ago, a teenage girl was discovered collapsed in an 11th floor studio located in Dong-gu, Gwangju, earnestly asking for someone to save her.

 

The 17-year-old girl was only in her underwear with her hands and feet tied by plastic duct tape.  An employee who works next door was returning to retrieve a forgotten notebook when the girl was discovered.  The employee took off the tape, covered her exposed and abused body covered in bruises, and hurried to the police station with her.  

 

There, she testified that for multiple days, men around her age, Mr. Hong (20) andMr. Im (18), both of whom she met back on June 2, locked her up, abused her, and forced her into prostitution.  She had met both of them through a chatting application on her smart phone.  They said they would provide her with room and board, so they should live as roommates.  It's been about a month since she had run away from home and she needed a place to stay, so she accepted.  At first, they lived together fine, even making food to eat together. Gradually, the two men began to put pressure on her.  They told her that she had to lose some weight, making her exercise in their home.  Finally, they brought over men she did not know and forced her into prostitution.

According to the girl, she was forced into prostitution about ten times.  Mr. Hong then snatched the money from it and Mr. Lim sexually assaulted her.  She was unable to endure it any longer, so back on June 10, she tried to escape, but was caught by Mr. Hong who hit her on the thighs and more with a broom.  For five days straight, she was locked in the studio.  So that she couldn't escape, the men took off her clothes and tied her hands and feet.  Regardless, she tried to do something about it anyway.  When left alone, she made her way to the front door and managed to open it after which she stuck out her head and asked to be saved.  The hall was empty as it was late at night, but luckily, the employee came back and found her.

 

Mr. Hong was taken in for charges of imprisonment and special injuries.  There was sufficient evidence for the incarceration and abuse, so he acknowledged those charges, but regarding the forced prostitution and sexual assault, he said, "That's not true at all."

 

The police plans to obtain their phone records and CCTVs.  Meanwhile, the girl is recovering at a hospital and treating the bruises all over her body.
