Hmm, I liked Lady Vengeance. Maybe I'm just biased in my love for the non stereotypical female characters in most Korean movies. The other 2 movies in the Vengeance trilogy do pale in comparison to Oldboy though. Neither of them are incredibly outstanding, but still good nonetheless I'd put Lady V over Mr. V tbh.
The Crucible is on my list of movies to watch, I haven't gotten around to it yet. Do you have any other suggestions? I'm pretty new, for the most part, to Korean Cinema. I'm also trying out Chinese moves. I started Infernal Affairs, but I haven't finished it yet.
I liked Lady Vengeance the least. (Though Mr. Vengeance isn't too far off) Yes she isn't a stereotypical female character but her story was just so underwhelming and also, there was nothing compelling about it. In the other two, there is no particular distinction over who the hero or the villain is and there are times the antagonist draws us to the point we find ourselves understanding him. Here, it was very clear that she was the heroine and she had a good story. I was dying to see who the villain was and how powerful he is but I was just underwhelmed. I was expecting a bigger reason for his actions. Why did he kidnap those kids, for what reasons did he commit these crimes? However, we got nothing. I felt quite a couple of Park Chan Wook's flaws became somewhat obvious in this film though I still noticed them in the others. He has a tendency to sometimes drag out the plot unnecessarily. He did this in both the endings of Mr. Vengeance and Old Boy. The fantastical elements in Old Boy and Mr. Vengeance were easy to accept but in Lady Vengeance, they were rather hard to swallow. There were just many moments in Lady Vengeance where I really wanted to change the plot. On the other hand, the atmosphere and cinematography in Lady was for me better but not so much that it would elevate it over the other two. In the end, I just felt really detached from the characters. I was also amazed how the villain barely made any effort whatsoever to kill her even though she knew everything...
Agreed, the thai movie 'A crazy little thing called love' is beautiful. Though it follows a girl trying to make a guy notice her, theres a plot twist at the end and even if its not considered a sad movie, i cried because of all the effort she put in for him.
Kmovies i like are The Tower, Death Bells and R2B.
The Tower- intense but heartfelt
Death Bells- horrific but unforgettable
R2B-funny but dramatic at the same time
GUYS! I recommend Leh Ratree! Love this drama. I think I'm on the last episode and it's awesome!!!! P'Sake and P'Kate are so cute together. P'Pat is so gorgeous. I binge watch the first half of the drama and then I search for the rest, thinking there were still subbing or still to be air, but nope. I suck at searching. Anyways, you can watch it in Daily Motion this one.
Also watch Ugly Duckling/Perfect Match. You can watch this on the official youtube account that owns the drama. It's also subtitle so there's no need to look for subtitled videos.
you guys should try watching the movie That thing called tadhana (That thing called destiny). It was so good, not your usual love story plus the lead guy is sooo swoon worthy They have it subbed on youtube I think
