Micah Bell 567
I remember when Kanye compared himself to a soldier and everyone flipped out. But ever since Tilda Swinton compared herself to a soldier, it's been regarded as an inspirational quote. Tilda Swinton has always been highly respectable, but do you think it is really okay to say this? Her Quote: I am a soldier. I live a soldier's life when I'm working. That's how it feels to me, except I've got a slightly greater chance of survival.
Lugoose 11,398
Idk, it doesn't seem weird to me at all no matter who said it? I'm sorry, but is this an American thing? I know veterans are highly respected in America, and maybe that's why people get pissed? Idk, but here in Sweden no one would get mad because most people would see it as a metaphor or something. Although it does make sense as a metaphor, Americans don't see it that way and usually get pretty inflamed when celebrities compare themselves to soldiers. I think Americans take offense to it because celebrities are privileged and don't actually have to put their life on the line in battle. But nobody got offended when Tilda Swinton used the metaphor, which is the reason why I made this thread. I wanted to get the opinion of fellow users. So thanks for yours.
