camelliabloom 4,557
The AIDS scare hasn't been limited to just the LGBT community in decades, they should really consider lifting this ban and instead requiring AIDS/HIV testing for all donors. Faces 5,832
Makes me wish I could be there. I'm A+ but my body can tolerate a decent amount of blood loss and needles don't bother me (I'm a woman btw...but would still donate if the opportunity came)

Exactly. There are more straight and cisgender people infected than homosexuals and trans since the amount of people is bigger.
AmeIie 850
why wouldn't gay men be allowed to donate blood?

An LGBT person still has a much higher chance of having HIV than any other demographic.

They lifted the ban but still only allow homosexual men who have been abstinent for a year to donate because "tests can't pick up recent infections." Which is still ridiculous - if they are going to go by that rule then it should be for any person that engages in unprotected sex, not just homosexual men. NCTfans 1,881
this was false reporting There was no emergency change to blood donor requirements, advertising this only slow blood drive efforts in the area.
