Song remains legendary to this day. It also probably helped Nobuta wo Produce was such a hit.

The song never dies so they made a reunion perf for 2016 which was met with thunderous cheers

Moot point since they are both in the Johnny's organization.

What amazes me about J-pop/J-idol industry is that its possible to sell millions with just one release. Even this day, jpop idol like Arashi managed to sell 400k in just one day, They'll easily surpass 1 millions in no time.

I don't wanna shade, but Kpop despite being more exposed and well-known globally, they don't sell nearly

as much. People might be saying Exo, but even with Exo's 2 versions ( 4 if you Chinese ver) , Arashi's sales easily beat them.

The Japanese buying power is impressive.

But then again, this may have something to do with the weak existence of digital market in Japan. Maybe or maybe not.

IMHO, a group's selling power should be averaged out with how many members a group has rather than where they came from. More individuals = more marketing draws.

Like Yamapi selling 800k copies of Daite Senorita. Given that it was released not long after Seishun Amigo (which was by a unit made up of two members), it's a good indicator of his marketability in that period of time.

A group with 10 members who are popular should sell more than a group with 5 famous members. Each member contributes to the group existence, also the number of members also have a lot of effect in expenses and income of the group. One main reason why I think Big Bang earns so much is because there are only 5 members to look after.

fads come and go but seishun amigo lives on

the only thing i get bitter about is that it completely outshone & continues to outshine fantastipo which is objectively superior

but the absolutely best thing about last year's jcd's seishun amigo is how yamapi was overseas and flew back to japan specifically to perform that one song, and as a result he was jetlagged af during the performance. and it shows. i love this random-uncle-that-gets-pass-out-drunk-one-hour-into-the-bbq realness he served there

Thank u for making this thread. That legendary song and legendary drama  :rlytearpls: . There would be no drama about friendship and school that can touch me as much as Nobuta wo Produce. Honestly when I'm abroad, everytime listening to this song makes me miss my high school and my old friends very much  :rlytearpls:

The digital market has nothing to do with it. A song can sell a million digitally in Japan even though it costs like $2 USD. It really comes down to Japan being more willing to spend money on music. This is also why acts can do multi-city arena tours in Japan, which is unheard of in Korea, even though they have like 10 cities with over a million people.
