On the June 2 episode of KBS 2TV’s “Happy Together,†I.O.I member Jeon Somi and her father, Matthew Douma, are featured as this week’s guests along with the Akdong Musician duo.

During the show Matthew Douma talks about the hardship Jeon Somi went through as a half-Korean and reveals, â€œBecause she is half-Korean, Somi went through difficult times. She wanted to get plastic surgery to hide her foreignness.†Jeon Somi confesses, “I wanted to make the height of my nose lower and change my hair to black. Also, I was ugly when I was younger. I had obesity as a child.â€

In response the MCs comfort Jeon Somi, “These days there a lot of people who want to brighten their hair color. You don’t have to have those thoughts. Even ‘Jeon Somi makeup’ is the trend these days.â€

Jeon Somi also talks about being a model for her father when he used to be a photographer. “In the past I would cry because I didn’t like taking photos. But being on TV made me realize that taking those photos in the past was helpful. I am thankful to my father.â€

In Asian countries like Japan and Korea, half-caucasian/white European have it better and luckier than half-blacks. They're actually highly regarded for their facial structure and always praised for having the ideal beauty that these asians longed for.

That person said mixed easily people become celebrities in their country, but I'm guessing its not black/Asian, Indian/Asian, black/Arab/Asian mixes but just those that are white mixed.

you make a point, but how do you know that for sure to make such a presupposition ?
