They cut at such an annoying time this weekkkkk.

This week's side effect for me has been that I totally want to find some good chocolate this weekend.

Every week I think Dae Young and Soo Kyung are going to have some good scenes together and then... I think we got a little ripped off this time, but it was good how they turned valentines day into a big mess

I totally caved and watched with subs at 50% yesterday : )

Let's Eat, it was really fun. I kind of liked having one ep per week cause that way it lasted longer. I was hoping for a little more couple time in the last ep though.

The little BTS at the end of ep 16 was already so cute, so a full hour BTS (if that's what we're getting) is going to be amazing :D

So I have weekly notifications turned on for this thread and my blissful ignorance of the last 5 days has just been shattered. I was kind of worried they might not bring back Soo Kyung but changing the entire cast is... They should just make it a new story then with a similar underlying concept

Yoon Doo-joon headlines Let’s Eat 2 with whole new cast

by girlfriday

ARGH. *flips table* They went and did it — the one thing I didn’t want them to do. Food-o-mercial cable drama Let’s Eat is returning to tvN this spring for a second season, and against all reason, they’ve signed on Yoon Doo-joon but no one else from the original cast. Confirmations are in that Yoon will headline opposite Seo Hyun-jin (Three Musketeers) and Kwon Yul (Roaring Currents, What’s Up), as we follow his character Gu Dae-young to a brand new neighborhood with a new group of quirky neighbors to befriend. Without his girlfriend Lee Soo-kyung!

I can’t for the life of me figure out how anyone thought keeping Yoon Doo-joon as Gu Dae-young would be a good thing. Why couldn’t they have made him Gu Dae-young’s twin brother Gu Jae-young, who also happens to love food in a weirdly bossy way? He could contribute to his brother’s Shiksha blog and sell real estate instead of insurance. I don’t care if it’s ridiculous; I want the lie. I guess this is what I’ll have to tell myself if I’m ever going to watch this show, because a second season that negates the first just makes me angry.

In the second season, Gu Dae-young will move into a new apartment and discover that his next-door neighbor (Seo Hyun-jin) is an old classmate from elementary school. They’ll have a hate-filled relationship stemming back to when they were children. (I’m secretly hoping that hate doesn’t turn into love, but really, what are the odds?) She’s a ten-year veteran of the single, one-room-apartment life, and has been dieting for four years. Her strict rule is one meal a day, so she makes damn sure that her single meal is as delicious as possible.

Kwon Yul plays another neighbor, a handsome civil service worker that Seo Hyun-jin has a crush on. He’s beloved by women no matter where he goes, and his food rule is that he’s a vegetarian. The three of them will get entangled in each other’s lives, no doubt getting all sorts of signals and wires crossed in the meantime.

The rest of the neighbors include Hwang Seok-jung and Kim Hee-won from Misaeng, Jo Eun-ji (Greatest Marriage), Lee Joo-seung (Pinocchio), Hwang Seung-un (Heart to Heart), and Kim Ji-young (Triangle). The series is about friendships that form when you step out of your studio apartment and share a table with others, and we can expect the same themes (and agonizing food porn) in the second season. Who knows, maybe they’ll make it a prequel and I’ll quit with the stompy feet.

Let’s Eat Season 2 follows Ho-gu’s Love (after Valid Love) on Mondays and Tuesdays in April.

Yeah idk if a prequel is explicitly ruled out at this point, but it seems like there's nothing to say that it is a prequel yet anyway. I'm hoping it's a prequel too though I think either way I'll just try to tell myself it's a different story.

Seo Hyun Jin is an early 85er and Kwon Yul's an 82er, so if they're going prequel they're not going too far before original Let's Eat I think.

@dumbkwang I think that dude from My Friend is Still Alive is really good too. I think he's from School 2013 which I haven't seen yet but it did really well when it aired. He's the non-Doojoon actor I'm looking forward to the most!

Now that I've kind of had time to get used to the idea of the cast changing, I'm kind of looking forward to this drama again. By the time it airs I'll probably be really wanting to see it. Back to my weekly ritual of cooking a huge soup before watching!!

This might be the first time I don't really have a preference in terms of the main couple, it's kind of nice, I'm just enjoying the show without rooting for anyone particularly

I like too how a lot of these cable dramas don't have as many unnecessary obstacles like an evil mom or something trying to break up the couples

since I topped I'll add this too

Hmm, seems like the direction they went with the love story didn't appeal to a lot of people. That's ok but I have to call out the comments that are suggesting she can't break up because it's mean or because everyone at work already knows about the relationship. You can break up at any time actually, which is what they're trying to show with Ms Hong's story.

I can see why the love triangle is bothering some people but personally I think through that Soo Ji has shown a lot of character growth. I don't find her useless or annoying at all. I think she's a determined and strong person who's trying her best to figure out how to reconcile society's expectations and her real personality. That's a common and relatable theme for people her age I think. Goo Dae Young too is thinking about these things, but they weren't made the center of the drama. He's worried about his career and the direction his life is going and he's wondering, "How can I date with the intention of marriage given my current career and financial situation?"
