That explains why the Boss lipsync. Kinda shocked me since they don't need it.

I am SO glad he won, beautiful ballad, legend singer...but it's a pity no one cares.

There are a hundred possible reasons.

Some of the more likely ones:

 

Maybe not everyone working was in the union on strike. There might have been some lonely guy still working doing his best to try sort out live audio for as many artists as possible.

 

Maybe some artists had personnel from their own companies come sort audio for them.

 

etc etc.

DAT SHADE. Although I legitly wondered about keeping the microphones on when I was watching EXO's MAMA performance. I mean, it looks awkward plastered to their face.. while they're not singing

I'm not an audio technician but there's probably quite a difference between fixing one microphone for a singer and fixing several chin-microphones for a dance group. I think the main issue could be that you wouldn't want to hear them panting when they're out of breath. Which obviously isn't an issue for someone like Hyorin as her choreo isn't that tough and she's using a handheld mic. For your average group I guess you'd have to turn off the sound coming from the microphones when they're not singing.
