Seems like Dee Hsu is set to host mainland show, "å§å§å¥½é¥¿" (translated- Jie Jie is Hungry). The show will have 12 episodes to start airing in mid July, Dee will have one male celebrity on per episode where they'll cook and have drinks.

Rumored possible guests *take w/ grain of salt*

20160323023120668.jpg

Hu Ge, Huang Bo, Mark Chao, Luhan, Wallace Huo, Kris Wu, Lin Gengxin

Aarif Rahman, Gao Yunxiang, Nicky Wu, Wallace Chung, Jay Chou, Wang Kai, Yang Yang [cant tell who dis is]

All I've heard for certain is Xiao S say that her personal wish list was Hu Ge, Wang Kai, and Gao Yunxiang because she watched Nirvana in Fire and Legend of MiYue. Also some hubbub about them trying to get Song Joongki on. Some sources are reporting first 3 episodes are confirmed to be Huang Bo, Aarif Rahman, and Gao Yunxiang.

I'm looking forward to this! Xiao S always knows how to turn up the heat and make things entertaining, her interaction with these men will be a must watch. My guess is that people like Mark Chao, Jay Chou, and Nicky Wu who have been on Kang Xi Lai Le before won't be one of the 12 guests.

Ooh, thanks!

We all know why she left KXL, well aside from Kevin leaving

Ive seen lots of photos of her lately, Dee will look great one day but she'll look like a total crazy woman the next

You mean the for the $$$? China has the best opportunities right now so can't really blame her for wanting to make money and continue a successful career. She's said she's had some self-doubt about her next steps, I'm sure she has some pressure for what her next career move is. Kevin leaving is still the primary reason though. It just wouldn't be the same without him. Would rather KangXi end well then continue for another couple years a shadow of what it used to be.

And really? I think she still looks consistently good.

Lmao I really wonder tho if Song Joongki will be able to handle Xiao S's hosting style....like Radio Star has NOTHING on her

Lol, hope his peeps do their research before making a decision. Radio Star is like a play pen compared to what he'd be in for.

But I've always felt that she leaves a comfortable margin of politeness with foreign stars though, even including mainland celebrities (so I'm actually pretty curious how this will go). She really knows how to toe the line in any situation though. She probably wouldn't go too overboard with Joongki or else k-media might cause a stir about him being molested in china, but she'd still find a way to make it really fun

IMO Xiao S's hosting style just works in Chinese or English. If the guests don't speak either language, the interviews get REALLY lame. Like WG's episode in KangXi...

Mhm, the back and forth is what makes her hosting style so fun. Also, because of the culture difference, korean celebrities aren't used to being asked those types of questions so they don't really know how to get around them. The only fun part of the WG ep was when she asked them when they lost their virginities. But they didn't really know how to answer it and she let them off since they were uncomfortable about it. And in the end that part was cut out of the final edit (maybe on JYP's request?).

Which was funny because WG said they were warned beforehand what kind of show it was but it seems like they couldn't handle it.

Lols, to be fair you can know what's coming but still not be able to come up with a good response. Hard to think of a k-celeb who could talk with xiao s so openly and be able to withstand her questioning.  ..maybe super junior? Jackson would be fun, language wouldn't be a barrier either.

You know what I think it is? Normal talk shows are a host asking guests questions. But the reason Kang Xi was so popular was because it felt more like good friends just chatting and gossiping with each other. Doesn't work too well when you squeeze an interpreter in between.

Emphasis on the gossip part.

Like I feel if it was only about normal topics they chatted about, it would be a typical show. But because of the gossip they openly address it lasted this long.

I sense that if Korea had this kind of show, it would rate so high (and trend in top searches) but I doubt any agency would allow their celebs to guest in it.

Yesss, when celebrities get into scandals and then guest on kangxi, you knew they would get grilled and forced to give up some juicy details! I remember they had some episodes specifically for trading insider gossip too, plus that little black notebook with all the names and only Xiao S could look.

I feel like Korea is more about maintaining images, celebs get labelled unprofessional when they let their private lives slip into the public eye. A show like kangxi would get awesome ratings, but all the gossip would probably bring the celebs a lot of hate. Then again, it'd only get high ratings if the gossip was good. And the top celebs wouldn't agree to go on the show. So then...yeah it might not work out.

I've seen how they interrogated stars in their show so.. I don't want Kris in this, for his own good! Lmao he gets instantly shy when asked about bed scenes during a fanmeeting so I have no idea how he'll react being asked intimate questions on live TV.

He's a pretty witty guy, he's not one of the celebs I would think of who won't suit this show. I feel Xiao S's style really filters out the smart and savvy celebrities because all the PR training goes out the window and the celebs are left to their own devices. The celebrities who are quite smart are easily noticeable (and have the best episodes) because they know how to skirt/maneuver around Xiao S's interrogation and tactics lmao.

The trick with Kang Xi Lai Lei is that people are really not pressured to answer the questions, but Xiao S does it in a way where less experienced celebs will anyway. Guests who are good with words survive the show more often than not. Like I said, the program does one heck of a good job in showcasing the real personas of celebrities. Given that Kris is known to be quite eloquent himself, I don't see him having trouble getting through Xiao S. He's brutally honest too, which makes me look forward if he does guest.

But I also notice TW celebs have longer careers than their Korean counterparts. So the persona thing helps in the long run.

Also can't edit in my PC now but to clarify this comment of mine

"Which was funny because WG said they were warned beforehand what kind of show it was but it seems like they couldn't handle it."

I didn't mean to make fun of WG having a tough time @ KangXi (it sounds like that I know) but what I was trying to say is that it's quite ironic that they were given pre-show briefings and preparations to have an idea what Kangxi is but were still taken aback while they were filming. I should reword it when I can.

The catch with Kangxi is no one needs to answer if they don't want to anyway but the more seasoned celebs skirt their way arounf the interrogations REALLY well. Also, IMO Xiao S does cross the line in many of her questions and gimmicks on the show. But what I really like about Kangxi is that I truly feel the sincerity of the guests when they choose to share their stories.

I find the episodes with shy guests can be pretty fun too. Also the naive ones who are terrible at skirting can be hilarious because they end up giving up details unwittingly. I'd be curious to see how Xiao S and Kris would interact too.

Persona of Korean or Taiwanese celebs? Def think that part of the reason Taiwanese celebs have longevity is because the public likes celebs who are genuine, and get attached to them as people because of shows like KangXi. Not that Korean celebs aren't genuine, but you can tell there's more of a wall up and they try to only portray perfect, broadcast ready versions of themselves.

My view of why Xiao S doesn't cross the line is because she's careful not to offend guests. She asks nosy questions, but like you said, it's up to celebs how or if they want to answer. Even though it's a scary show to go on, people still happily guest because they know the result will be entertaining. Even in awkward situations where she interviewed politicians, or her sister's ex, or a female celeb rumored to be with her ex, she knows how to find the right balance and produce hilarious results. The hosts/producers also try to avoid or censor anything that would have a negative effect on the celebs.
