Hyooga 10,307
And no I don't mean about LDH taking over. With JE not really having an ace group after arashi any longer, do you think the era wherein even non-JE/LDH boy groups will have a chance at exposure be emerging anytime soon? dante. 7,795
no because the je monopoly goes a lot deeper than just having an "ace" group
pinkmonster 4,678
they may not have a newer group that is wildly popular but they are still doing great. plus, smap and arashi are still active so. kanjani are also doing great as far as i know. I believe tokio/kinki kids are also very well known to the general public even though they don't have big fanbases anymore. and who knows, maybe they will get another "ace" group in the future as well. http://onehallyu.com/topic/322729-nikkei-reveals-their-2016-talent-power-rankings-and-charts/ looking at this, johnny's older groups are doing fine for themselves. i guess we'll see how things will change when these groups disband, but it's probably gonna take a long while till that happens. plus as the user above mentioned, it's not just a matter of an "ace" group. the company has lots of connections/power in the entertainment industry so i don't think they'll lose their influence any time soon, despite their newer groups not being as popular (with the general public) as their older ones. Amaya 543
I don't think their hold will be completely over because they sell personalities more than actual singers. But I would say that I do see more boy groups popping up like Da-iCE, X4, PrizmaX and flow back who do have competent vocals and dance routines and seem to be doing well along with the Boys and Men, XOX and Bullet Train. DocumentaLy 6,033
It could happen. I mean, BOYS AND MEN have 2 #1 singles so far this year and look to be getting a #1 album soon.

But besides Boys and Men, are the groups you mentioned, actually doing well? I feel like they are non-entities in the entertainment scene at the moment. XOX, X4, FlowBack and PrizmaX last singles charted in the top 10 Daily, the latter groups besides PrizmaX and Bullet Train haven't even been around more than a year so I think that is not bad considering. analyna 2,090
No I don't think so. His tentacles run deeper in the J-Entertainment industry than just having an ace group like arashi and Smap are still Legends. The infighting in his company is what's causing the most trouble right now. Once they settle that preferably before Johhny himself dies and probably reexamine how he markets his idols, I think that'll make them even larger. analyna 2,090
Can you expound more on this? And by larger, what do you mean. Do you mean the part about the infighting within the company? And by larger I mean bigger than he is now.He still refuses to acknowledge that his acts have international fans.Though honestly not as much as before. It's a business and I accept that international appeal isn't needed once you're one of the biggest entertainment companies with a specialty in the second largest music industry in the world. As a business he wants money and tapping into the internaional market would bring them even more.I still remember when kat-tun had their Asian tour it was successful, when arashi went Hawaii it was also successful so I have idea why they don't capitalize on that more. Also give the guys some public social media even if you have people monitor or handle the account for them.
