Do you think that J-Pop will produce youthful stuff again?

Seriously my favorite era was the 00s

The energy was indescribable from the idols to the musicians

Mmm there's still plenty of summerish/springish songs like these ones being released today. Naoto Inti Raymi and Ikimonogakari for instance come to mind.

Japan has never stopped producing "youthful" songs, it's just the particular sound of pop you are looking for has ceased being popular just like in the U.S. we jumped from R&B to hip-hop to EDM. All music trends are cyclical.

Naoto Inti Raymi sounds mature to me and Ikimonogakari no longer have their youthfull vibe like they did with Sakura or Yell.

Maybe the new youth songs aren't as good now.

We'll have to agree to disagree because I don't think today's youthful songs aren't as good. To me, the latest releases by Funky Kato, Lucky Tapes, Negicco or Sumika for example are very youthful and of no lesser quality than the top songs the likes of FMB, Porno Graffitti or Misuchiru were releasing a decade ago. However, if you're not a fan of the styles being incorporated into Japanese music these days chances are you're gonna find them underwhelming or you will like them but still miss the more funky or disco style of some of the youthful songs of the 00s; at least that's the way I see it.

Not what I imagined when I opened the thread.

90s got 2000s beat.

But yeah, to say that J-pop doesn't produce youthful music is silly. It's not like enka rules the country. How else would you describe idols? Not exactly adult or mature.

And I will never understand people's passion for YUI...  :omg:
