Hey everyone. Here is a new appreciation thread about the artists who helped make K-Pop what it is today by producing and/or writing these songs we love and bop to. Starting with the Big3, so far I mentioned elements from SM and YG, so now I want to talk about JYP. It is then logical that I start with the one and only founder himself.

JYP is one undeniably talented man. He is literally the life and soul of JYP Ent having put together so many of K-Pop’s biggest groups and guaranteeing hits after hits over decades. (I wanted to include some of the g.o.d songs such as “Letterâ€, “Roadâ€, "Love You and Remember You†as well but this would have taken too long, and most of you are probably not that familiar with them). As you can see, he wrote AND produced by himself majority of ALL these hits (which I know only one other Korean producer to have achieved something like this over decades…let’s see if one of you figures out who that is..).

JYP is totally my style of pop music. I really loved his compositions for miss A and 2PM, especially I Don't Need a Man and A.D.T.O.Y.

GOT7's A is so underrated, I think it's GOT7's best title track tbh

I became a JYP stan bc of the compositions of this man.

 

I really like JYP compositions from ballads, pop to retro, the man is a genius. Still alive say it all. 

 

JYP has created many trending songs in KPOP music market.

I think that whenever a song from JYP sounds dated, it's on purpose. He's already proven that he can adapt his sound to current standards.

 

That said, Black Eyed Pilseung aka Black Eyed Victory and Sam Lewis are definitely bringing it with those two first hits from Twice. However, there's not much evolution (probably on purpose) sonically. So I wonder if this duo will be able to have longevity and diversity. We already know they have an urban/hip-hop edge from a couple of their other works..   :donthinkso:

So far I don't care for their work, not even GOT7 If You Do is my favorite title track for them my favorite GOT7 title track is still SSI.

I didn't really understood why everyone hated SSI and called it the worst title track. The first time I listened to it I thought it was pleasant. I guess the only downside to it was that it was very repetitive but even A was that. Too much autotune perhaps? but I thought it fitted the song so idk. My fav is just right tho

Park Ji Yoo is too old for me. I just know about this song bc I've seen some K-idols doing covers. 

 

It's raining is also another song from b4 I started listening KPOP, but bc of Rainism, I came back in time and watched the mv. 

 

I mentioned these 2 songs, bc I know they were trending songs back in time.

JYP's compositions being outdated is sth that from time to time someone mentions, but I don't think it's right to say it's a reason of JYP's song not doing well on charts. 

all that I see in big music markets nowadays seems like an updated version of late 90s and early 2000s.

Twice's new song is not so outstanding considering music/lyrics, it's a teenager song sang by a trending group. The same with Growl song back in 2013.

Korea's music tastes changes around the trending groups/variety shows. I see that SM is trying to make popular again the "dancing"

songs, the real pop songs, and it's also sth that trended many years ago.
